By dark patch do you mean The Dark Mod? Or something else?
EDIT: Nice to see you here, btw.
Err, I meant 'NewDark' - It brings Thief 2 up to v1.21 I believe. I'm not sure if that's the official name though - the whole thing seems to be shrouded in mystery. The only thing I know is that it's not official.

Cool, thanks for the clarification.

Honestly, the very vast majority of feedback regarding Garrett's hands that I've personally seen and heard from people who've played the game has been really positive. I've definitely read where some people have said the hands felt awkward to them, but all I can say to you is that watching footage of a game and actually playing a game are 2 very different things.
I don't think most people are against the idea of hands. It's just that they're too prominent when they aren't being used to interact with something. Those hands when Garrett is crouched need to be moved toward the lower corners of the screen.

Honestly, I had a hard time actually listening to most of it. A minute or two in they're asked about forum/fan feedback, and the outright lie they tell (after an initial attempt to dodge the question) just had my jaw on the floor, and me red faced and distracted for the rest. Basically, according to them, they read all the forums and pay close attention to all the posts, and feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Yeah, I'm serious.
I think they're talking about
their forums, not TTLG. And maybe they're right. What they actually mean is: "After we delete all the negative comments and complaints, what's left is overwhelmingly positive!"

That's not really true. I've been over at the EM Thief forums for the past few months and there have been a great deal of negative comments about the new game over there.
I don't know where they're getting the idea that feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Maybe from Playstation forums or Gamespot forums? Places where most people aren't familiar with the original games?

Like I was saying above, I think the issues with the hands largely stem from the differences between the experience of watching and playing the game. When you're playing the game, they feel *right*. When you're watching, I think it might seems odd because you don't have the context of actually being in control - hands catch your attention because you don't see them in games every day. I've read a LOT of coverage from media who played the game at E3, and I really don't recall seeing anyone taking issue with the hands - nor have I heard this feedback come out of any of our playtesting sessions.
That's my theory, anyway :)

Have another listen. Daniel never says this, he's saying it's "exciting to be getting feedback". Very different things.

They say it's exciting to get feedback...but they don't use it.

So you've had some decidedly mixed feedback post E3 - if it was just us lot moaning from the sidelines about how you've changed rope arrows and ruined the game you could probably ignore us and expect we'll come round once it's released into the wild. But some if of it's clued up folk who saw the earlier press demos and were originally impressed, but were left wondering what happened when it came to the hands on. That can't be the kind of reaction you were hoping for.
So what's the plan?

Oh, come
on Kurgan and others ...
You know, I hadn't bothered to go and check the original source. I just kinda assumed it said more or less what you said. Looking back, I don't know why I assumed that. Please stop just flat out making sh** up whenever you report these nuggets of information. Seriously. I'm sick of having to fact check every. single. thing. that gets posted to this board.
For reference, here's the transcript of the audio section that everyone has been complaining about.

... we are actually reading the stuff, it's really awesome to meet you guys, so great work so far and it's really awesome that you help keep the correct information out there and make sure people have the correct information and the correct links and so forth. It's really awesome.
So how's the reaction been thus far from what you've heard? So most of the team actually goes on the forum and reads. You know, we're not supposed to talk about going on the forums and so on. We only read and try to get a feeling of how people's reactions are. Adam comes in and does the official statements and then you guys help to make sure they get the right information, so it's really awesome. And right now the guys in the studio are just like going through all the material and looking and all excited about the feedback we're getting.
And the show floor, what kind of reaction are you getting here?etc ...
