Might and Magic VI: The Mandate Of Heaven is my single favorite game (note the DragonSand :p). Wizardry VIII coming in at a close 2nd. Chade, if you liked MM6 and havent played Wiz8 yet, you may want to do so. You wont regret it. You may regret how much of your time it takes away though, as it is a crpg masterpiece. You can even get to see where Morrowind stole its skill leveling from. ;)

Thanks for the recommendation. I've had it in the back of my mind that the Wizardry games would be good to play. Nice to get a number to put besides that.
That said, I have to say that the list of games I would like to play is particularly enormous at the moment, including games like UU1, SS1, STALKER, any good game from 2012, The Last Express, etc etc etc etc ... the thought of putting yet another game on that list fills me with dread. :p

While we are throwing around suggestions, King of Dragon Pass is one of those must play games that nobody seems to have heard of, and it's currently 50% off on GOG: (

Keep in mind that Wiz8 is one of those rare classic gems. I honestly, in this day and age, would not recommend Wiz 1-7.

A minute or two in they're asked about forum/fan feedback, and the outright lie they tell (after an initial attempt to dodge the question) just had my jaw on the floor, and me red faced and distracted for the rest. Basically, according to them, they read all the forums and pay close attention to all the posts, and feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Yeah, I'm serious.
Hey guys! Adam here from Eidos-Montreal. Yes Kurgan, I read most Thief posts - on the official EM forums, TTLG plus anywhere else on the net I can find them :)
Please don't assume that because I'm not posting I'm not reading. If I responded to every message I read, I wouldn't have any time left in a day. I do send frequent reports to the team based on all the comments and feedback I collect.
FYI, I was present when this clip was recorded and I also had another listen to the recording now, and I honestly don't hear what you're talking about - Daniel say's the team has been reading the forums and they're excited by all of the feedback they're getting. I don't think you've correctly summarized his words here, but a big thanks for posting the mp3 stream for everybody.
I'd like to try and be a bit more visible to you guys over here at TTLG from now on, I'll try and post here from time to time when I can if you guys would like? Feel free to drop by the (
http://forums.eidosgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=269) Thief forums and say hi as well - I'm pretty good at responding to my PM's! :)

Is the dev team aware of how utterly ridiculous the stealth zombie hands look?

They've largely silenced or ignored negative feedback. Saying that they are paying attention and excited about feedback are just corporate buzzwords that people can latch onto. I also think it is hilarious that they can't do rope arrows anywhere because of technical limitations but LGS managed to do it 15 years ago

...since Viktoria/thiefessa has been banned? Seriously though, many here will appreciate you coming over here as the official CM instead of just pretending you're just a fan of the games, and then BSing everyone by telling us all your positive comments on New Thief are just your personal opinion. :p

I sent you a PM a few months ago and you never responded. It was in regards to a Stephen Russell thread I started that was deleted.

Ha! As a zombie fan, I have to say that a 'stealth zombie' sounds like an oxymoron, wouldn't you agree? :D
Honestly, the very vast majority of feedback regarding Garrett's hands that I've personally seen and heard from people who've played the game has been really positive. I've definitely read where some people have said the hands felt awkward to them, but all I can say to you is that watching footage of a game and actually playing a game are 2 very different things.
I find that when I'm watching somebody else playing a game, I'm always acutely aware of the HUD and a billion other things that I normally don't focus on when I'm playing myself. When the controller is in my hand, I'm usually so focused into the screen that I have to physically tear my eyes away from the center to find the UI or whatnot in the corners. I think the same thing applies when we're talking about Garrett's hands - when you're actually playing the game you barely notice them - they feel quite natural and unobtrusive, and really lend a tactile feeling to the game. When he moves while his hands are touching something, you get a real feeling of weight and a shift to his movements - kinda hard to describe, but it feels good.
Did you follow the Thief AMA thread we did on the EM boards? I don't want to spoil it until you get to see it for yourself, but one of the big "whoa" moments for the guys that got to play the game involved Garrett's hands (they called it "the painting moment"). I'm not sure if they spilled the beans yet (and I don't want to spoil anything for them if they haven't), but I'm sure if you PM'd any of the community guys who got to come to E3 they'd be happy to describe it to ya.

I hope me posting here proves I'm listening. I don't really know what else I can do beyond that - but I'll try and post a bit more frequently so you guys know what I'm up to. Like I said, just because we don't respond to every comment doesn't mean we're not reading them. And yes, if someone posts derogatory, inflammatory or otherwise aggressive content, it will be removed or ignored - but that's pretty standard stuff for any official community, it really shouldn't be a surprise.
More on rope arrows, and other arrows in general, to come. We certainly haven't shared everything at this stage.

I probably didn't respond to your PM if it had been addressed somewhere else near the same time. Unfortunately I can't respond to every message I get (it's 5.30pm here, and I'm still staring at a full inbox from this morning... ugh!), but I do read them all, and I almost always respond where the information can't be found elsewhere.
Yeah, I did hear about that in passing. To be honest, I'm not clear on exactly what happened - but it's at the discretion of the mods of this board I guess. All I know is that Vik is a lovely lady and one of the most hardworking Thief fans I've ever met, I'm very lucky to have her. The thing that really bothers me is unnecessary in-fighting between members of the Thief community, as a whole. The hippy inside of me just wants us all to get along :(
