Yep, and the damn game play videos really didnt help much! lol Most of what I saw was all the show off stuff that diminished the free roam. They really need to release a new game play video that just shows Garrett running and jumping around and freely moving through some environments. I think it may change a lot of minds.

When I read his summary, I thought the exact same thing.
Same here. It's almost like he brought the one instance of misinformation front and center intentionally so he could use it ad infinitum going forward. And the one instance of misinformation pales in comparison to the validated information we do have.

Was that the misquote where the interview didn't say 'we've [EM] only had positive feedback', but said 'we're really excited about the feedback we've been getting'.

I love Starker's comment:
“Attacking a game that hasn’t yet released proper gameplay footage isn’t entirely fair, I know. It’s kind of like pointing at a bowl filled with butter, sugar and an egg and saying “that cake looks shit.””
In this case it’s more like saying “that cake looks shit because that egg is rotten”.

We're here to help! It pains me to read pages of angry ranting and disappointed hand wringing when the OP has simply misunderstood or reported something untrue.
And I maintain that I understood perfectly, and reported accurately, with only a minor mistake. He may have responded to a secondary question that I didn't catch at the time, but the answer still harked back and covered what I'd thought it was about, making the mistake kinda moot. They're "excited by the feedback," which gives the clear impression that it's positive. One can only assume that said feedback is derived from Assassin's Creed fans that took a wrong turn, ended up in NuThief territory, and didn't notice any differences so took the survey. :ebil:

but I will definitely make a point of posting from time to time on TTLG in future to be a bit more visible to you all.

As promised, I will drop in to TTLG from time to time from now on to be a bit more visible instead of just lurking. Feel free to send me a friend request!
After your sloppy EM sanctioned foray into the bowels of TTLG, why on earth would anyone here want to "befriend" you?
Take thy paltry stats and *run* back to your Master. :ebil: :ebil:

How are EM ever going to be able to do this sort of thing without you calling the people they send over biased? If you want to rely on a mod badge to negate everything someone says as positive, arse kissing nonsense- then please exclusively listen to Ashpolt. He's not doing any moderating, and whilst he wasn't a ridiculous negativity bomb on the forums before he knew anything about the game (because he's reasonable and intelligent, and wants to wait until he's been informed before he makes up his mind...) he sure as hell isn't afraid to be critical. Have a look at his post history from when DX:HR was being developed if you want to back this up with some evidence. And take my word for it that he wasn't afraid to grill Anfossi and Dugas about the future and past of EM's hold on Deus Ex at the drinks on the Thursday night in LA. I also seem to remember me and him having a mildly heated clash about "entitlement" on the way out of the brewery. He's not afraid to say his piece.
I really wouldn't say I aggressively defended the game before I saw any gameplay at all. That makes about as much sense as someone being hugely negative about it: and if that is something I've been doing then someone please tell me so I can give myself a slap. My activity over on the official boards before E3 was mainly exasperation over people writing off the game before they knew anything substantial about it, and trying to keep up the morale. I care about this series, and I don't want to see it burn: I want EM to do well, and for people to get the right information about the game so that they can give the devs informed feedback. I do think b1skit hits the nail on the head- some of this ranting does appear to be down to misinformation.
From what I heard when I spoke to them over the course of the trip- guys, they are listening. Really. Why wouldn't they? It's in their best interests. After that they still have their own mind, and it doesn't mean they are going to go with the suggestions coming from the community, but they are hugely interested in community feedback. Good for them going in the direction they think best, I say. So long as they keep their ears open, I respect them for taking it in the direction they think best advised. They are very, very sharp folks.

Spyhopping:
The moderators at EM have zero credibility with me. I don't care if they played for one hour instead of the half an hour the journalists played. They still played through the outdoor section; the burning building; burning bridge, etc. They reported on things they saw, both good and bad. EM themselves have said what things in other Thief games won't be in Thief 4. That is not "misinformation". Developers listening? To me they aren't listening much. Fans have posted for four freaking years about things they didn't want in the game (QTE, no third person, etc.). Almost everything they don't want is in the game. Much of what they wanted isn't there. That's the developers are listening? No.
When b1skit said people weren't being banned for having negative views about the game, he's misleading people. He's giving misinformation himself. During the first four years of the forums, quite a few people were banned temporarily or permanently if they were negative.
Reputable reviewers have described what they liked and disliked. I will trust them any day over EM moderators and Ashpolt.
With b1skit saying most of the info here is from misinformation, he is wrong. We have heard from other reviewers and EM themselves. There are quite a few things we don't like. That is not "misinformation". Over the years I have seen companies put down those who aren't happy and discredit them. It seems to me that EM is now going to do it. Instead of me being on the fence about buying the game (when it reaches the bargain bin), EM has lost a sale. Some people I know that were "on the fence" are now saying "no sale".
