I'm looking forward to how they're going to justify fracturing the market with new versions of current-gen consoles and how it's actually a savvy business plan this early in the generation's lifecycle.
Apart from that, I guess we're all really in it for long advertising conferences punctuated with shiny trailers for games that we need to wait around for months/years.

Concerning the updated console versions, I see many ways of doing it wrong and pissing off your customer base and very few of doing it right. I'm curious how they'll handle it.
And I have to confess that I quite enjoy those bombastic trailers, even if/when they have nothing much to do with the game itself. They don't necessarily work for me in terms of advertising, but I like watching them for the audiovisual fireworks.

From what I hear about the PS4.5 is that Sony will demand that all games released must still be playable on PS4, you'll simply have higher quality settings on the beefier one. Of course this is all rumors and hearsay at this point. But yeah, I don't know if this is really a good idea. Then again I did end up buying 2 360's over than console's lifetime, and if my PS4 ever broke down and I had to buy a new one I guess it would be nice to be able to get an upgraded model. But, eh, yeah, meh, eh, heh, I dunno.

I hope The Evil Within 2 and Wolfensten TNO 2 is not just a rumour. Also, RE7 announcement would be nice too.

While Sony will demand that games be playable on both consoles, "playable" is a pretty broad term. Skyrim from the PS3 was "playable," but it was by far the most inferior version of the product and so riddled with performance issues that it probably didn't deserve a release in the first place. Also, by that point in the PS3's life cycle, games were still "playable" on CRTs, but the font was unreadable on many popular games. As a matter of fact, my decision to replace my CRT came due to being unable to read the on screen text in Skyrim and GTAV.
It's probably inevitable that games released 2018-2019 will begin to play poorly compared to their PS4.5 counterparts - either that or developers will resort to extreme downgrading to meet Sony's requirements simply because its the most economical solution.

I'd be less concerned about new games playing on the old system than about old games playing on the new system. If it's 100% backwards compatible, I think it'll go much better.

An article I just read made it sound like going forward (after the release of 4.5) there would be two distinct versions released for each game, and developers were not allowed to only release something for 4.5 without also releasing a 4.0 version as well.
I'm sure that won't get confusing at all.
It also mentioned that 4.5 updates to older 4.0 games would be a possibility.

I'm also eagerly hoping to hear more about The Evil Within 2. The first was such an underrated game and one that certainly scratched that itch for a proper survival horror game that didn't involve being unarmed or unable to fight. I'm also curious to see whether or not we'll hear anything about Arkane's version of Prey 2 which is trying to be a spiritual successor to System Shock.

I'm also eager for news about the Evil Within 2. Resident Evil 4 is one of my top 10 games and the core gameplay in the Evil Within was such an improvement on RE4's core systems. The open levels like the (1) village area with the chainsaw boss and (2) the castle where you first get a rifle were awesome! I lost interest at the mansion, but the franchise could easily eclipse RE4.
