All the current generation of consoles have been out for a while now, there is after all the next gen due out possibly next year.
Would have thought it's just late buyers and replacement units being purchased mainly at the moment...

Hey all.
Gamespot has tons of news on 2003 and December results. Deus Ex is just not registering on these charts, so no idea how well it did. I wish NPD would release a full list so we could see, but that costs lots of money. (Be cool though, not just for deus)
Here are the December 2003 results:(
http://www.gamespot.com/all/news/news_6087174.html) ChartSpot: December 2003
Here are the January 11 to 17 results:(
http://www.gamespot.com/all/news/news_6087180.html) January 11 to 17
By the way, as I understand it, console game sales only increased by 5%, not 17%? Here is the article: (
http://www.gamespot.com/all/news/news_6086799.html) Console game sales grow 5 percent in '03
Finally, I doubt most console buyers are conscious of the next generation of consoles arriving. I think most just buy whatever to play games. Hence the huge bump for nintendo by dropping the price. They didn't care that PS2 or X-Box has more titles, they just wanted a machine to play on.

Hello all again,
For some reason, I hear a lot of people stating DE:IW flopped. But I found this (
http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/040120/205737_1.html) article in Yahoo Business stating it was in line with expectations. Of course, that does not mean it was a hit, but it probably was not a flop either.
Also, if it were a big flop, there would be no more patches or discussions of part III.

But what were management expectations? and how broad was the line?
Udasai on 6/2/2004 at 06:41
Broadly = half the original expectation
These clowns are idiots. Clearly slapping "The Sims" in front of a game makes it a hit. Time for "The Sims: Thief"
lunatic96 on 15/2/2004 at 10:07
The Sims: Thief actually sounds like it could be a cool game.

"Sales performed broadly in line with management's expectations"
As a formerly investor of Eidos (as they were worth 2 billion dollar and The Sims saga began to grow) I know this term.
It means plainly disappointing sale figures. As far as I know Deus Ex wasn't a real blockbuster then too.
Good games are rarely blockbusters.

I my God, I hate this Sim-Sequel. Playing boring reality.

What do you have to sell in a week to hit that? two?
twisty on 20/2/2004 at 10:28
Yeah, must have been one of those 2 for the price of 1 offers.
