Well, DX2 is just a big disappointment to me. It looks like some cheap shooter, like Sin or something. Or like a console game. Is there anything I can do to improve performance on my machine, install new drivers, perhaps, or something?
I'm kinda desperate at the moment. I just hope Thief 3 will turn out to be better.
Console game is the keyword, since the PC version was converted from Xbox, and sadly, no there is nothing you can do, only make a Hate shrine of Eidos and warren spector for making such a bad decision in where to start in the gaming industry for sequals to a hit series :grr:

stuff about the story
Yeah, well... it's been a while since I finished DXIW now and... actualy, I don't realy remember much of the story. Something about
two different factions you could do missions for that later turned out to just be different sides of the same faction. And then you went to Antarctica and found JC and he told you to do stuff... yeah. Something like that.
However, I can't realy say I remember much more of DX's story either. Something about
Gray Death and... um... um... um... oh yea, in the end you were in some big factory or something and Bob Page was trying to do something and you had 3 choices for how the game should end.
So yeah, neither had that memorable a story. But I felt myself much more immeresed in DXIW's story as I was playing it. And much more of a desire to keep playing to find out what was gonna happen next. So I still rate DXIW's story higher.

And then there's the protagonist. JC...dark, brooding, in a trenchcoat and body armour, with sunglasses, 'cause his vision is augmented. Alex...wears a purple jumpsuit and has hair that can be seen cloned at the gates of any high school.
Waitaminute... are you judging the characters based solely on their looks?
Anyway, did I say I tought the character(s) in DXIW were better? Naah, they're just as boring and have as little personality as JC. But that doesn't matter. The point of the games is that YOU are the character, not the people you play. If they started throwing out one-liners all the time and expressing their opinions about stuff people might feel urged to act like they think THE CHARACTER would act. Not like THEY, the player, would act in a certain situation.
Ok, I guess in the end, their looks is realy the only thing you CAN judge them on. So... trenchcoat and shades VS. futuristic jumpsuit? Neither is very original. Hmm... that trenchcoat did go very nicely with most of the suroundings in DX. I mean, in the Hell's Kitchen subways and the Lucky Money club in Hong Kong JC looked absolutely great in it. While in the underwater lab and MJ12 facility it did clash a bit with the style of the arcitechture(but there weren't many 3rd person shots in those places either). A jumpsuit is more flexible in that way, it more or less matches any locale. Hmm, it's a tough choice, but I have made my mind up. I'm going to quit talking so much about the fashion in the DX games before I sound any more gay.

If neither of the two stories had any lasting or memorable effects on you, why do you presume to appoint yourself as their judge?
I should try replaying them both, perhaps concentrating a little more, read the texts, dont skip the speech parts, listen to the dialogues. Then form an opinion.

I just "ordered" DX:IW from a guy who supposed to send it in near days. Im not expecting anyting revolutionary but I wanted to try it since Deus Ex is my personal favorite game of all time.
We'll see.

And than you may be pleasantly surprised. It is a good game, very atmospheric.

I agree with Fragony. It's very good game. Not as big as the first DX but good nonetheless. How it stands on the technical side I can't say though since I've played it on the Xbox.

Well that's too bad for you then I guess. I could at least enjoy whatever it threw at me.

It's intresting to see how this game splits peoples opinions. I'll tell my opinions when I've tried it..
..however I haven't heard of this guy yet. God I hate people who are lazy with e-mail.

First day after playing Deus Ex: Invisible war.
Mostly it has been positive but there are some problems. One is that most of the time I just wondered around and wondering that where the hell should I go. But that's my stupidity. Another thing is that voice actors are so flat and lame that I sometimes forget to listen them. :D Also I don't like the way they changed the inventory and ammo system.
It has been okay, but again, I have played it for one day for now. It haven't been that horrible but it's nothing compared to original. The worst thing is that it doesn't feel like Deus Ex.
We'll see.
