It was lucky for me for playing DX:IW, since it didn't have to compare to the original for me. I still want to play the original some time.
Well what are you waiting for? You can get it for like $5 on eBay.

Well, I guess I'll give it another try. Any suggestions as to how I can improve performance?
Get the patches, and update the game. They make quite a big difference to the game :).
Also, turn of Bloom and Multisampling - those features KILL performance badly.

Well at least try the demos then. Joined together they give you the first two full levels of the game.

It is on budget on the Sold Out Software label in almost every game store for a whopping £4.99

Hmm, I've never saw it in Game, but then I've never really been looking. I'll have a look next time.

I patched it to v1.2, no improvement possible here. In some FAQ, I was instructed not to use Mulstisampling on a Radeon card, which I have, so I turned it off as well. Well, let's have another look with Bloom turned off, too ..
BTW, I updated my drivers yesterday (from 6.14.10.6444 to whooping 6.14.10.6483), and it's a bit better now.

1024x768 with bloom and 2xFSAA on a T-Bird 1666+ with 133SDRAM on an antique Abit kt7 board running at 100FSB with a stock GeFarce 4200ti (61.77 driver package.)
Slight lag when looking through bullet-proof windows but FRAPS shows average 30fps otherwise. Dropping to 800x600 w/4xFSAA is silk-smooth.

Why are the graphics so screwed up at all is the question? and btw, have you tried playing any game at a constant 30fps.... it's hell on earth. I think we need to destroy every god-forsaken useless x-box off the face of the earth, it's all their fault anyway :P I should be able to run this game at more then 800x600! That's what I'm running Doom 3 at without any probloms and looking a hell of a lot better the IW does at the same setting....
I'm so disappointed with all the stuff they've gotten rid of, I haven't finished the game but I hope that the storyline will make up for it...
Note: Maximum PC recently released a free full version of the Original Deus Ex, they may still have it on their site or something?

Phifty: nice.
Santa: have you tried updating your drives, reinstalling directx?
