Our crusade for in-game variable FoV options in the PC version has been won, the developers have implemented it.

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to let you know: we've recently added an in-game FOV setting to the DXHR PC!
cheers,
Jim.
Please everyone buy this game and support a developer who genuinely listens to their fans.

Why you do this to me, Eidos Montreal? Why?

This is a smokescreen for the fact that they aren't releasing a development kit which has far greater implications than I think a lot of people seem to be acknowledge. Take even modern replayability of the original as an example; without the new renderers and mods like New Vision and HDTP it would be a lot harder to look at.
Although hats off to EvaUnit for flagging this as an issue to the developers. If we could just get a unified front together to make them release an SDK because although this looks to be a great game some things are painfully retarded, I mean even COD: Black Ops has lean on PC for god's sake!

CONSPIRACY! They give us scraps so we won't beg for the buffet! FUCK YOU EIDOS MONTREAL! YOU'RE SO FRENCH CANADIAN!
Actually, wasn't there talk of plans to release the toolset after the initial release? I remember reading that somehwhere.

I know you're trolling but jesus fuck you're doing shit job at it. There's nothing wrong with Deus Ex graphics aside from huge UI.
Get out.
Warren's Spectre on 31/7/2011 at 09:20
There has been no mention of a SDK and a lot of people say there won't be because that's Square Enix's MO.
Also Koki, the graphics were good enough for their time but it is hard to look at now without the help of some of those mentioned mods. And you really shouldn't accuse others of trolling, particularly when it's projection giving the questionable nature of your contributions!

I'm don't recall any talk to that effect, unfortunately. Which doesn't take away from it being poor form and rather thick to slam them for giving us adjustable FoV as a "smokescreen" for not providing an SDK. There's no link there, and they're altogether different propositions in scope. Between these FoV options and the highlights toggle, EM are making a good show of taking fan requests onboard when they're easily feasible within their project - no bending over backwards, but a solid step up from plenty of other devs.

I sure wouldn't mind a bigger heads mod...

The first one was not really good form from Eidos as it would have made the game really irritating for most of us here. The yellow highlight overlay is fair enough for those COD fans that need to be told that the world should be interacted with but for the rest of us it is annoying and to not give us the option is just plain stupid. I do appreciate the FOV slider and it was nice to see how people raised this issue directly to the developers so this is a fair point. However, to not release an SDK is wrong for this type of game. Many examples have already been given (Fallout being the best recent game) so I don't need to rehash them but Eidos must surely know that many of us will like but not love their game until we can tweak it to truly 'Give Me Deus Ex' mode. What I meant by smokescreen is that they can say that they've responded to the community but in reality they're ignoring the community in a long term sense by not allowing us to mod the game in the way that we want to. And really how much of a job could it possibly be to create a rar archive of their development tools and host it on their site? The answer is in the scope of things none.
