DX2 won't run on my computer... - by hayaku

Now, despite the fact that I utterly HATE DX2, I find myself constantly wanting to give it another chance. The problem is, It hardly runs.
The main problem is that, when I go to load a game/start a new game or whatever, the loading screen appears briefly, then very quickly refreshes to desktop then back to loading screen. This loading screen is totally dead... nothing ever happens. If I Alt+F4 this screen will close, and I will be back on desktop for about 5 seconds, before a new loading screen comes out of nowhere and away it goes... loads and level starts.
It basically seems like, at the instant I make action to load a level, a 'fake' loading screen comes up and does nothing. I have to close this fake loading screen before the real one will open.
I get this with the demo, and with two cracked versions I have downloaded. I'm not going to pay for the real think unless I know its actually going to work.
Does anybody know anything about this problem?

How about paying for the real thing and reclaiming if it doesn't work? This applies to everything else as well, so why not to computer games?

I am almost totally certain the real thing wont work. There is no sence in paying for something that is guarenteed not to work...
once I get the demo/cracked versions working, I will consider it though.

Cracked versions? You mean those "downloadable" versions from Gamespy? Those seen to be walking the legal line to me, if they are in fact the full versions. I have DX2, and sure it has hung a few times, but no game is perfect and I have found the good aspects outweigh the bad. You have to be patient. Otherwise, go play Doom.

No thanks..... I'd rather just replay DX1 :p
ok, the point I was trying to make was that a variety of DX2 incarnations would not work on my system, and was hoping the problem was common enough that there might be a known solution to it.
And by cracked versions, I mean versions i downloaded of BitTorrent that were self installing .rar's or whatever... meaning they had been compressed and recompiled for download. I also downloaded what I think was a perfect cd clone in .iso, which also gave the same problem.
So yeah.... I'm pretty confident there is something about my system that the game just dosen't like.

I'm sorry if I sounded rude. No offense was intended.

You hardly gave any information about your system; how can we help you?
If you are going to ask for technical help, it should be standard to put up things like your PC specifications, software, etc. plus anything special.
