I lost respect for the writer after JC took the rifle. I mean only a fool would take the rifle or X-bow, when both are available on the island. the gep gun also makes a great "skeleton key". I finished reading it though and was quickly bored. The writer followed the game word for word, the only difference is your not doing anything. He could at least have modified it or added some extra content.
Edit: Oh, he did more than the one chapter. And actually added a bit. Not much though.
