Does anyone know what I do with the dwemer books "egg of time" and "Divine metaphysics"?
Am assuming at that cost they've got something to do with a quest - Am in the mage's guild and Trebonius might like them? Hmm.. Am thinking out loud... any ideas?
A confused lizard.....

Keep them. You will need them later. These and another one- can't remember the name? You'll need to get them translated at some point.
Yes, they are to do with Trebonius and also come into play if you take the alternative main quest path.
And...
the renegade Telvanni wizard Baladas, who lives in Gnisis, is important; do not antagonize him, by killing his pet daedroth, for example. He also matters if you're in House Telvanni
You may want to start thinking about getting a house to keep your stuff in. Caius's one will do for starters, you won't be able to carry everything. Just don't put stuff in containers that ever had anything in them, because they respawn and you might lose your stuff. (sorry if you know all this already)

He didn't seem to mind when I killed his pet Daedroth - maybe it was the few hundred gold I gave him?!
I've done a quest running round to buy books for him too and he likes me 100% - said something about maybe having a job for me later.
I haven't really got myself a house yet - I'm sort of squatting in Balmora mages guild - kit all over the floor by the beds. Am kind of worried about this "kit dissappearing" thing people talk about though. Will have to move my mark somewhere else in the guild I guess. I guess I should get a pad - will probably be a while till I get a stronghold built.
Oh - do you know where the shrine is that I need to go to to start the Azura's star quest? After I finish the Morag Tong special duties (will be off to the St Olm's shrine after work) I fancy doing a few quests for self-improvement. Thought Azura's star would be quite nice then it's off up to Gnisis to find that Amulet of shadows and hunt down a dremora with a daedric shortsword.....:)

If Baladas likes you 100% then this will override the loss of pet annoyance- as you have found already.
Azura's shrine is in the SE corner of the map. It's directly East from Molag Mar, and marked on the printed map. Flying there would probably be the best option (get the long-term levitation spell from the Vivec temple courtyard). You'll get the quest if you go there- IIRC nobody sends you there, you just go in and talk to the statue. The perfect companion item to Azura's star is the reward you get for Ranis Athrys's (Balmora Mages' Guild) final quest.
I cannot remember where I got the amulet of shadows, but it was early in the game and it has been one of the most useful items in the game. I still use it regularly, at level 60 or so.

Oops. I already killed Baladas. Um, how do I fix this?
I didn't try to kill him. I was walking around the ruins and he kinda attacked me. Guess I killed his pet, huh?

If you need him to translate the books, I think there is another way of doing it.
If you're in Telvanni, I read somewhere that you need him to advance to Mouth.
Someone who knows these things should be able to give you the console command to reset him if you're on PC. Typing ra will Reset All NPCs- I don't know whether that's all NPCs in all the game, or in that building. Otherwise, for one person, it's a longer command, which I do not know.

Hmm.. I checked all three of the ruins that Edwinna sends you to, but must have missed the book "hanging Gardens" - I'm thinking it should have been in the ruins she sends you to get the tube from, but I couldn't find it even though I searched? Any hints (I'd rather not use the console code - but if I have to how o I type it in? is it just open the console and type "bk_hanginggardenswasten"? Or is there meant to be a player-> first or something?

I found this when I searched the forum. I cannot remember who posted it:
Quote:
Hanging Gardens: In the ruins where you're to pick up the excavation report! It'll be marked on your map when you've completed the first mission for the blades - the guy in the Balmora fighters guild will mark it on your map and give you a letter of introduction, when you've completed the trip to Ankthang(bloody wozzname!)...
The book is lying just next to the killed assistant beyond the test of pattern...
I think it's Edwinna in Ald'ruhn who gives you this quest.

Hmm.. have definitely been there - got the report etc... am begining to be a bit worried that I've either picked it up and left it or sold it.. still, would only sell it to the enchanter in Balmora so that could save me a run...
Thanks for sparking the grey cells Ania!
