This is my problem with DVD extras: they ruin what little suspension of disbelief we can muster.
This would be more true if you hadn't seen the movie beforehand, I'd say. It does take away some of the charm/appeal if you know how the shots were constructed upon a second viewing, but if the movie's crafted well enough it's still capable of engaging my sense of wonder nevertheless.
Anyhow, I do like hearing/seeing how the special effects for movies were created within the restrictions of the time, especially for pioneering stuff like what ILM did for The Abyss or how the space scenes were constructed in 2001.
The fact that ILM created, say, rivers of water flowing out of a palace in The Phantom Menace by basically sifting some sand from their palms and compositing that onto the video -- it simultaneously makes me slap my forehead at the simplicity of the approach as well as admire the ingenuity of it.

My particular pet hate is alternative endings where the odd line or filter has been changed.
I came to the same conclusion when I'd accidentally hit the alternate endings on the Cloverfield DVD. I'm actually glad none of 'em were used, to be honest. They didn't make for eye opening after-movie viewing either.

This is lacking an option: "The rip didn't include special features. Or ads. Or previews."
Seeing as the poll's about movies that you bought, if you actually paid for that rip, my friend, then consider yourself ripped off.
Anyhow. Great bunch of suggestions for recommended viewing so far! I've got to hunt some of these down now.

Choose paying for movies. Choose Life.

I haven't seen Ewan McGregor's dick that movie in so long.

He's quite the shower, yeah. I read an interview with him around the time he did SW episode 1 where he was asked about that and he said: Yeah, I'm always waiting to get it out on the Star Wars set too, like when the script says: pulls his light saber.
At least then I knew that despite the stupid braid he was the same.
