Rehabilitation was mentioned. Have there been any programs that have cut down on recidivism other than chemical castration?

Hard to tell as there is such hysteria everytime the idea is mentioned. I seem to remember reading that there was some evidence that the 'befriending' idea worked in Canada.
There is also the rather radical idea of offering more help to victims- help that is easily available & cheap, or preferably free. If a proportion of abusers were abused themselves it could help, as well as the other obvious benefits to those who are just going to take it out on themselves rather than others.
I also seem to remember reading that offending behaviour often starts at a young age, so maybe we should also try and do more to help children who abuse other children- try and intervene at an earlier stage.

Nothing in his post suggests he thought you were praising him. :weird:
Not that it matters much, but just to clear up I took the following sentence to mean that he thought what I said about being an expert was meant literally. If he meant something else I don't know what, because basically this just reiterates my original point. But hey, meaning can easily get lost between posts, especially where any use of irony or sarcasm is concerned.

These are perfectly elementary concepts that require no specific "expertise" to understand.
