So who saw the new episodes of Torchwood last week?
My thoughts: I thought it was really good, but the ending was a bit bleak. They should have put a bit more emphasis on the fact that millions of children who were saved.
Also, I might have missed something, but surely there was more than one of the 456s? I know they need a different atmosphere to us (nice touch), but could they not have sent spaceships to blow everything up?
Another good decision they made was to keep us from seeing the whole alien. Our imaginations can always do a better job than CGI.
Having 5 episodes shown one after another was an interesting way of doing things. If they are watched one day after another, the story stays fresh and they basically got two films out of it.

Met a group of the 10%ers today shuffling around the local woods dropping litter, killing plants and insects, quite frankly it's a great pity they were saved! :tsktsk:

Wanted to do libertarian rant, realized there is no point
Harriet Jones would not have put up with that. She would have doomed the whole planet to war, but it would have been worth it to hear all the children going YES WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE

Saw it and I quite liked it. A bit more serious than the previous seasons. Liked the new format if you can call it like that. Hope they film the next season like this.
I wonder how are they gonna continue with Ianto dead and Jack gone (I wonder if we'll see him in the next Doctor Who special "The Waters of Mars"), guess it's time to bring in some new characters like Lois Habiba or Agent Johnson onto the team.

I enjoyed it, but I thought it tailed off as the week went on. Glad to see they retained the humour but didn't go overboard with the alien sexual shennanigans this time. Gwen - "What's occuring?" <3
Should there be another series, my prediction is that:
like mrle01 says, Lois Habiba and/or superbitch Johnson join the team. No love interest there for Jack, but maybe he's turned whilst in space. Jack's coming back for sure!
Well since Jack has a daughter we know he's already familiar with that side of the fence.

I always got the impression he'd hump anything. Quite suprised he didn't have a go at the huge meat-whale thing back in the old series.
As for this series, yeah: was fun. I kinda like how it shows that earth CAN fight off alien threats when there isn't a timelord handy, but they're just really really shit at it.

This was the best Torchwood ever done. Not much of a praise, because the series were always kind of B-grade. I liked how it was way darker than usual and how Barrowman was toned town a bit not being "oh-so-hilarious-bi-alien-humper". I was actually amazed how dark stuff they had put in it. Loved the social commentary, especially the meeting room scenes. Frobisher was the best part of the whole deal and his ending was so sad. :(
My only real qualm was the annoying
After defeating the aliens, everybody stopped chasing each other and hugged kids with emotional music playing. I hate "and suddenly, everything was alright" scenes-
About jack:
I really feel for his character. Being immortal doesn't mean he has nothing to lose, it means he will lose everything. What's even worse, he has to lose them to save everybody else. He's kind of like Batman, doing what others can't. The ending was nice, albeit it's hard to take seriously, because it was obviously done so that Jack can be in the last episode of Tennant's Doctor.
I enjoyed it, but not sure I want to watch the series again (at least for a while). On the whole the characters seemed more believable than previously shown and as Kuuso says Frobisher was very nicely played.
At other times (particularly with the opening scenes and credits) it felt more like an episode of Spooks than Torchwood. Coupled with the more mature sub-themes of the show they could really do great things with the next season. If there is one
The only problem is that I didn't really care as much about the main storyline for most of the episodes.

I happened to catch a few episodes of this and was surprise at how un-shit it was. Dr Who is really dull imho, mainly because the effects and the production seem so cheap (and no in the cool way it used to be) but this seems to be a far, far superior spin off with lead character that I actually like.
I missed the end of this Torchwood run but it was actually pretty ok imho (which is obviously unusual since of course you know I hate almost anything sci-fi, despite being a sci-fi fan, because most of it is just deserve-to-be-shot terrible. See Stargate for reference). I might catch it when it returns if they promise to let aliens be spooky/freaky without the embarrassing freakouts and bile spitting.
