I'm just pissed that some dick at CountryWide decided to sell my information to some other dick--I hate all institutions....
The worse thing is that I wasn't really worth that much

Everything great and prosperous about America could be argued to have been built on the misery and exploitation of other countries though, so this is Capitalism coming home to roost.
If misery and exploitation of others is the price to pay for FREEDOM then SO BE IT

It is kinda amazing how the deregulate/speculate/borrow/push-the-stock-price-up/if-you're-owed-a-lot-you're-worth-a-lot kinda thing didn't slow after Enron. It either went national or proved to be endemic, take your pick.
I guess the sectors are different enough that perhaps people didn't notice (or they're incomparable, I dunno). But I suspect the attitude, the 'culture' even, behind it is much the same.

On a positive note, it's nice to see the govt rebuffed Lehman ...

Watching HBO's John Adams right now, a funny viewing partner to current events.

As could the imperialistic empire building of England. As I recall, Scotland, Ireland, Australia and numerous others were subjected to exploitation by the Brits. Of course, the opium/tea trade, the subjegation of India and the rest of southeast asia by the Great East India company was purely for altruistic purposes. And the acquisition of massive wealth (capitalism), and land control was
never a consideration.

Please note the comment I just made about watching a biopic about John Adams. It's ironic that America's foundations were formed as a revolt against that which it not before long became.

True. And in some places of this mudball, it's still going on. Other people, other places. Must be a message in there someplace. :)
