Hi guys,
is it possible that some games using DRM will not work on certain types of DVD-ROM drives? Can you guys name any examples of games that have had this problem? When it happens, will the game just not be recognized by the DVD-ROM drive whatsoever? Not trying to start a flame war about DRM, just doing a bit of research.
Have a great day

Yes, I definitely remember reading about people having trouble with DRM on certain drives, for example when BioShock first came out. I don't know the particulars, though.

The European versions of Freedom Force vs The Third Reich and Homeworld: Cataclysm had horrendous copy protection that meant they didn't work with a lot of DVD drives (including mine, until I bought completely new drives as part of an upgrade). MechCommander 2 had copy protection that required upgrading to cope with new drives as they were released; the company producing the DRM no longer supports it and so new drives basically can't play the game without resorting to questionable methods.
