Dreaming Deus Ex ... - by Rolander

I remember once I dreamt about playing Thief and actually put it up as a reply to a post "Signs of playing too much Thief... " in TTLG forums ...
This time it was worse: I dreamt that I was running around in the bowels of a ship shooting up guards with my PLASMA GUN and STEALTH PISTOL, being helped initially by some guy who seems like PAUL DENTON and running away from some baddie who looks like WALTON SIMONS ... I later blew a hole in the side of the ship and swam away ...
It was worse because in my Thief dream I dreamt that I was playing Thief on my PC (I dreamt that I reloaded the game after a bad turn of events), but in this one I was literal IN the world of Deus Ex!!!
HELP ME!!! :cheeky:
I hope I don't dream about getting stuck on a spaceship/station full of dead people ...

Mmmm... the recent heat waves have been too much for you! You need a walk in Jurong Bird Park my friend. ;)
Nah anyway, the same happened to me. I was thinking so much about Thief that I actually dreamt I was in it! I'm not so sure about DX cause' it has not made the impact Thief has made on me.
.
.
And thank God I don't really like System Shock.

Back why i first played Deus Ex (and was therefore ultra obcessive) i got up from the computer after a couple hours to rest my eyes. I walked out of the room and started down the stairs...and tried to pull my stealth pistol out of my inventory, got kinda freaked when it didnt apear... i thought maybe i had droped it in my room while making room for something else and forgoten to pick it up.
...took me a good 3 seconds to remember that i didnt have an 'inventory' or a pistol of any kind. :weird: :wot: :erm:

I don't think I've actually dreamed of Deus Ex or Thief but I have used thief tactics in real life. One time in the cafeteria at school, I saw a teacher came in who I didn't like. So I immediately dropped to a crouch position and went behind some of my friends and tried to hide in the shadows of the table and wall.

But what exactly did you DO to get your "pistol" out? I mean, when i do it, i usually realise im out the game when i realise there isnt a keyboard in front of me :cheeky:

assuming that i probably twitched my middle finger up tward were the shortcuts for the toolbelt are.
this all happened in a fraction of a second...the rest of the time was spent trying to decide if i were asleep and dreaming or something.

You know the same thing happened when I dreamt I was in the Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption world. I searched furiously for the inventory key and when it did appear, I asked myself:
"Where is my axe?"
Then I woke up to find myself in the balcony with arms raised.

I have had nightmares about System Shock. I got System Shock when I was 8 or 9 and had some of the worst nightmares. Many of them were me defending my dog from a Cortex Reaver.

A funny thing that happened to me a few months ago... And I assure it's 100% true. I was leaving Uni in the evening, and heading back home, and I entered a very dark area. My first thought was to activate the light aug.
The weird thing is that I didn't think to press a particular key, I just though "light on" or something like that... And I was actually puzzled during a whole second that it didn't work. I stopped playing for a few days after that.
Oh, I got better =)
King of Style, that's funny, one thing I really love to do is hide and scare friends like that... Sometimes I can be really invisible. :thumb:

Hm... I tried to pull out my binoculars a few times in real life when I wanted a closer look at something. (Meaning: my right ring finger twitched up a few centimeters to hit the 7 on the keyboard that I did not have infront of me at these times. (I have some weird keybindings for gaming which are comfortable but sound weird when I am talking about which finger I use for what movement.))
Dreaming of games is not so unusual or nuts, but trying to pull out binoculars or the stealth pistol... that's weirdo stuff. ;)
