Drums: Brian Blade OR Bobby Previte (or maybe both, a-la the Grateful Dead)
Saxs: Joshua Redman & Karl Denson (also on Yazz-Flute)
B-3 Organ: Sam Yahel
Piano: Brad Mehldau
Guitar: Derek Trucks
That band would rock your face off.

An even more classic version of that would be Clapton, Syd Barrett (or Gilmour), and Hendrix together. Now
that really would have been an experience.
Clapton and Hendrix did play together a couple of times, but weren't Cream touted as the first "super band"? What about crosby stills nash and young? Or the Highwaymen? All dream bands in some sense within their respective genres. I personally think that Omar Rodriguez (of Mars Volta fame) and John Frusciante's jams together are fairly awe-inspiring.

I'd have him on the drums, definitely. Probably Jan Akkerman on Lead Guitar. What the hell, Jaco Pastorius on the bass. It'll have to be a 3 piece as I can't be arsed to choose a keyboard person. Might pick Tori Amos, but I don't think I'd want her to sing.

You need Rick Wakeman on keys, but only if he wears a cape. Otherwise, he sucks.

Perhaps he'll be even better if he wears a dress.

I saw Crosby Stills & Nash here last summer... man they have potential!
Really great show!
OP: George Michael sang Mercury's songs better than the man but he couldn't write them like this for love or money.
