Is it my imagination or is this, visually, falling short of The Witcher on almost every level? Granted, there was much more to The Witcher than looks, and I am sure that will be the same here, but I wonder if it bothers Bioware that their shiny new game looks inferior to a nearly 2 year old game built by another developer using one of their 5-year old engines.

if they would boast about the myriad of features, possibilities and deep tactical choices you can have in DragonAge I would not mind the graphics. but since we have not seen anything in that regard besides some very generic (and I admit it: old-school) HUD I would say, yeah, it certainly does look very bad. Not to speak of the cliche-ridden military speeches from previous trailers. KOTOR, the last "ok" RPG by Bioware at least had memorable characters that I cared about (much more than about impending doom for the whole galaxy) but if MassEffect's "play it safe" storyline with 1:1 Babylon5 mission recreations is any indication we won't have much to look forward to in DragonAge either.
they will have to do much, much more to get my bucks come autumn.
especially with Mafia2 and STALKER coming in those months.
I can see myself playing those 2 games exclusively until new year :)

I'm guessing there ain't much brand new about Dragon Age. Judging from the editor screenshots I've seen, it looks like it's using an almost untouched version of the NWN2 engine.

If you go on bioware's website in the faq section this what they are using for the game
"What game-engine is being used"
Dragon Age: Origins uses the Eclipse engine a BioWare developed data driven next-gen RPG engine
Sounds promising but just have to wait and see

It wouldn't surprise me if Eclipse is just another heavily modified version of NWN's Aurora. They recycled it for KotOR and Jade Empire too.

Graphics? Blaht. I just want my sprawling epic fantasy RPG w/dragons from Bioware. It's taken them seven god damn years to get back to their roots.
