Gothic 1/2 only loaded when going to a new area. Like 3 chapters in (20+ hours ).

But you have no problem in giving your opinion about it's general quality.
Like i said, i like their games modded, which is how i play and enjoy them, immensely. I do like the general approach, i like how they believe games should be played, that the player makes his own adventures, his own situations, that you're free to go where you want to go, that they provide some really cool tools for modding etc. There's no developer out there who could create such vast world with thousands of quests, items and almost unlimited possibilites how you want to play the game, that's the strength of their games.

I still think Gothic 1/2 did it WAY better, though I am a Morrowind junkie as well.

Yeah, but you were back-tracking between areas quite a bit, but it wasnt bad at all, better than most games and it never stutters like Oblivion and Morrowind can do if you don't have the hardware for it or don't bother to redirect files..

Agreed, though I am not arguing, I am just saying that you are not going to break immersion w/a load for HOURS. And actually, backtracking through loads is a lot more rare than you make them out to be.

I have yet to see anything about DragonAge that makes it interesting besides EA NOT using DRM......the trailers didn't do much for me, on the contrary, they all looked like a generic - played it a 100 times - RPG. I can't see what's old-school about DragonAge either besides its graphics and supposedly fantasy setting. My bets go with Obsidian, hopefully Alpha Protocoll will offer something fresh.

While it might be officially the spiritual second coming of Baldur's Gate, it's really the successor to Neverwinter Nights. What I mean by this is that it'll ship with an incredibly flexible toolset tailored for users to make their own modules, just like NWN.
The meat of the game is that it's a modding platform, so the actual SP campaign will probably be not that great.

It may be interesting to see if EA tries to drive DLC via mods. The NWN/2 expansions have tended to have more uptake perhaps for that very reason.
Alternatively, it'll be gimped for consoles.
