mothra, you playing on Nightmare or something? I was a little unnerved at your description.
The Redcliff siege was the first one after Ostagar that I went to and I don't think I was ever that bad - however a fair no. of villagers didn't make it. I guess if I tried harder it would be more desperate.
I just want to say I wish I have more time to enjoy DA:O properly.

I played through the "save the town" quest at Redcliffe a couple days ago, it was dreadful. The skeletons just kept respawning, it was worse than any Call of Duty game.
In the end I fled back up the hill to where the knights were camped and had Leilana lure each skeleton with her longbow. It was easy pickings after that.
The theft skill is a joke in this game. If you have a high enough skill, your character can pickpocket 90% of NPCs, even when they're facing you. They've made the theft system in Fallout 3 look as good as Thief 2 by comparison.

Pro tip: if a good guy has dark shading around his eyes, he is actually a bad guy.

THIS
I still enjoy the combat, but only if it is in small potions. I'm in denerim now and accepted a sidemission to kill some bandits.
I enter the map and 20 GUYS ATTACK ME. WTF IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE ? and that's only half of the map of 3 maps in total. FUCK THAT SHIT
still game is ok.

I consider that easy pickings, myself. Crowd control is what mages are for.

I'm having trouble finding a link to back up Wynne's claim that earned achievement points can used to buy premium DLC.

Yeah, that one's complete bollocks. I have loads of achievement points, and yet nothing on my store balance.

I think it was her idea of a joke, but it didn't come off very well.

I somehow find it silly that earls are arls and sirs are sers. I haven't yet ran into cunts, tho.

I don't know about the PC-version, but with the 360-version there came a piece of paper with a code in it, which allowed me to download the DLC for free.
