I didn't know there was a demo. I'm all up for pause-party-action. I will just cover my ears during the dialogues and go lalalalala

IMO DAO is like Baldur's Gate and Mass Effect had a baby, yet it somehow feels a lot like the Black Isle/Infinity engine D&D titles. I wanted it to be that way, so I wasn't expecting or hoping for anything real groundbreaking. So far I am very pleased, as it has easily exceeded my expectations.

What the fuck is on the 2nd disc? European language files? The installer didn't request it even once.

Did you get the deluxe edition? The regular NA version is just 1 dvd.

Yah, but there's a 3rd "bonus" disc which has the Behind the Scenes featurettes and stuff of that ilk. The 2nd disc is labelled "Game Disc Two".

HAHA, the Day One premium DLC news keeps getting better.

But then there's the third step. It's called Warden's Keep and it'll cost you seven dollars to download. It adds a new party camp that includes storage so you can free up backpack slots when you're adventuring. Bioware claims this was created after early reviews complained about the lack of inventory space. But rather than fixing the game by giving everyone a storage locker, they opted to use the problem as a way to make more money.
And here's (
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/bioware-defends-dragon-age-dlc) the reply from Bioware.
Quote:
Dragon Age lead systems designer George Zoeller has explained that it was BioWare's decision what to put in the DLC and what to charge for it.
"For what it's worth, EA has nothing to do with this. The game was designed with limited inventory for a number of reasons, the least of which being to limit save-game size and therefore load times," commented Zoeller on a Fidgit article.
"I'm fine with you being upset about the item limit design in the game - and fine with you being upset about the chest being included in the DLC, but I must protest the 'Oh, EA is pushing the limit for more money' tag-line, because that's just not what has happened.
"I categorically reject that any features or game systems in this game were designed or removed to 'bilk users for more money'," he added.
Well that's a lot better of an explanation than the bullshit that IW has been spurting lately.
The devs have cited that it'd be possible to increase the party limit with the Toolset, but it'd be a massive undertaking. I'd imagine that modding the item limit may be a much simpler task.

To be fair, it's not quite 10$ for a horse armor mod.

No, it's worse. The game ships with a gimped inventory, for "technical purposes", and then you get a purchasable download pack to ungimp it a little bit. Because if you pay the extra seven bucks the technical limitations grow a bit looser. Through the power of magic!
Did the Toolset ship with the game? My room mate got it earlier this morning, but I threw a quick glance in his folders and saw no editor launcher. Also, while on the Invetory and Toolset subject - would it not be possible to rig a chest somewhere in a town to not use a spawn item list, and just have persistent inventory? Wasn't it so on the previous NWN engines that you could just drop an item on the ground and find it there two hours later?

In DA:O you can't drop items, you can only "destroy" them. Dropping items and persistence is way too old school.

God I hate it when games do this. Mass effect was the same..hell, mass effect didn't even seem to have
meshes for items "not stuck to your back/in your hands": they just jumped from being text items on a UI list in a crate to being text items on a UI list in your inventory...
