Don't worry, guys, if you're as bored as I was, just download the character creator. Which, aside from the unskippable EA logo, also comes with an unskippable trailer, this time made with the game engine. Which also looks /yawn. And then ends in the blablabitchbitchsexsexviolence tidbit that was strangely absent from the CGI trailer.
As for the character creator itself, it's pretty much your standard Mass Effect chargen with a medieval twist and elves. Can't say anything about skill trees or anything, if they're in there, 'cause I lost my interest three clicks in and uninstalled it.

By the time this becomes hits the bargain bins, I'm sure there will be plenty of good quality fan modules available.
I predicted this months ago.

While it might be officially the spiritual second coming of Baldur's Gate, it's really the successor to Neverwinter Nights. What I mean by this is that it'll ship with an incredibly flexible toolset tailored for users to make their own modules, just like NWN.
The meat of the game is that it's a modding platform, so the actual SP campaign will probably be not that great.

Well it seems the graphics engine and character creation is looking quite good.

Facial animation is still a step down from Mass Effect though.

The modding engine might be worth the price of admission. Like NWN2, I'll buy it just to screw around with the editor, and barely even glance at the single player campaign.
I made some pretty stuff with the NWN2 editor, too. Kinda sucks I never did anything with them, though.

Gets 94% in PC Gamer UK. Not read all the review yet but its long and that usually means they've gushed over a game big style. They recommend a few weeks or months dedicated play saying its "massive".
The question for me now is - can I really afford the time to get into an RPG that big? They are more work than most and I happen to have about a years backlog of games for PS3 (Assassins Creed, GTA4, Mirror's Edge among them) to get through. I'm planning on Batman AA for PC, likely be getting L4D2, still have both Penumbras and some FM projects for when TDM is released (so soon now you won't believe it).
Dragon Age - the neglected masterpiece?
PS. I want to get Planescape, MGS 1, Silent Hill and a few other oldies I missed 1st time around. How can I fit these all in? :(

No one is forcing you to buy the game. Wait until you have the time. Sure you'll miss out on some pre-order exclusive in-game items, but big whoop (depending on which retailer you buy it from).
It'll highly likely be cheaper too. Prices on games, DVDs, CDs, etc. tend to drop like a stone in the UK.

don't take it so seriously I'm just having a minor lament about the injustice of being a gamer who wants to play it alll!
