Reading a few strings from a few files is hardly a concern on a PC that can run TDS.

I agree. Also that is another reason why the .fmi file is separate from archive. It won't need to extract anything unless its installing an FM.

Doesn't matter if it's not a concern - that's not thinking things through. The reason Darkloader did that (and did it once per mission, ever) was so that we had a local record of every mission that has ever been installed - not just the ones that currently reside in an FMs dir. Either a loader database file is needed, or a bunch of FMI files - alternately you have no local record of what you've played and deleted - that much is a fact.

Wait, I'm getting contradictory information here. Is the FMI file inside each mission archive, or external to it?

Contradictory? I said... there is a archive which has inside it the archive with mission data, along with the fmi. Just look at the sample and it should be pretty obvious.

The fmi will stay in the FM directory even if you remove the FM. This is how you can keep the rating, etc.

If the FMI isn't inside the FM archive, why does the FM archive need to be repackaged?
dracflamloc on 23/3/2005 at 22:48
I never said it WAS in the archive right now. That answer was hypothetical and in response to someone elses suggestion. Just stop arguing holy crap Zylon. Shutup and use the program when it's done or don't. This thread is getting ridiculus.
I hate to be a jackass but don't post in this thread again please. I intended it for helping me find bugs and the like, not a huge argument over a ridiculus topic.

Okay back to the point:
Preview 4 is up.
The Install and Delete FM options now work.
To install: Just goto the FM menu, click Install, and then choose SampleFMs.zip and it should install the FMs into your FM directory.
To delete the FM you can choose to only delete the archive, or to delete the archive and the .fmi.
Preview 5 is done but I can't upload it ATM and that will detect if the FM is fully installed or has had its archive removed. I'll upload it later tonight.

Nevermind, preview 5 is up. Enjoy, post bugs you find.
