I'd be curious to see your view on Win7 (esp. its speed in the shell/games + compatibility with games/apps) - RC should be out soon.

I just bought a laptop with Vista and it passed the one crucial test -- will it run Thief 2? :cheeky:
No issues so far, except that the game doesn't look as good as it did on my older laptop. I think that can be tweaked -- hopefully it can, anyway. I looked high and low for a laptop that came with XP but they are few and far between, and this machine ( which is huge and is only nominally a laptop) has a nice graphics card that should be able to handle newer games. I still have my older laptop if I can't get the graphics on older game to look right on this one.

thats good, what gfx card does it have, as you may need to install the DDfix and widescreen patch...

It has a Geforce 9600 GT.
I think you're right about the fix and widescreen patch. The game runs flawlessly but looks very drab and it's hard to see in dark areas. Thanks for the tip -- I'll check those out. :thumb:
I'll be interested to see what other games will run on this machine. Otherwise it's a glorified typewriter -- though in truth, I bought it so I can play games in bed. :cheeky:
