Depends on what model of reality you subscribe to. The 4th dimension can be spatial, with the 5th dimension being time.
DUUUHHHHH!
The 4th dimension is the one we experience, and works with how relativity describes our understanding of the universe. The ones
after the 4th are the ones that we can't directly observe because that would, you know, make sense.
Taking it any other way would be a plainly loopy application of string theory, and will cause all sorts of weird and inexplicable space-time glitches to happen in your immediate vicinity, because what a person believes is what manifests around them. Reality ends up far too pliable if you start looking at it the wrong way.*
Be careful with your assertions, for they may end up eventually biting you in the ass.

It's all theory, but we could easily live in a 4+1 dimensional universe, and be entirely unaware of it, since we're a tiny dot on a 3 dimensional surface of what could be an unimaginably vast 4 dimensional construct.
Think of an ant walking on a mobius strip. From the ant's perspective, it's just walking in a flat circle, completely unaware that it's following a path that's actually two sides of a much more complex shape that's bending and twisting in upon itself. It'd have to see its world from a distant vantage point to realize how complicated it all actually is.

That's what I said. It's just that the other dimensions aren't directly observable to us because we're creatures of 3 immediate dimensions, plus one that's not spatial. If we agree, why are we arguing :mad::mad:

Cuz in theory, we could be living in a 4 spatial dimension + 1 time dimension universe. Just because our immediate surroundings are 3 dimensions doesn't change the fact that the universe we exist in is more complicated as a whole.
SO THERE ALRIGHT!

I AGREE DAMMIT. Hell, it could be 4+n dimensions, because that's what string theory posits in the first place.
You'd better believe that the cardinal order is X+Y+Z+Time, though, because that's what makes the most sense to normal people.
Renzatic on 2/8/2014 at 06:45
ALMOST BUT NOT QUITE, because we could in some way interact with this extra spatial dimension at some point in the future. Like the ant learning the shape of its world through complex maths, and developing technology that allows it to flip from the top to the bottom of whichever loop it's in on the mobius strip, shortening the distance between two points. Though X,Y,Z + T is all we need for the vast majority of everything we do or ever will do, a potential extra spatial dimension shouldn't be ignored.
It could exist. It could be all around us. It should be considered.
...or it could all be bullshit psuedoscience. Who knows?

For arguing about something I agree with and completely misunderstanding everything else, there's only one thing I can say.
You're dumb.
Sulphur on 2/8/2014 at 07:19
Yeah, well, if you don't understand space and time are part of the same cosmic gloop and not separate, you wouldn't even be able to tell when or where these buttons are incorporated. And if you do, that means you're either a liar, or a walking paradox that causes the universe to implode. WHICH ONE COULD BE TRUE :mad::mad:

This sort of talk is what got the Doom demons to be summoned in the first place.
