Christ, you're a fucking broken record. Send these anti-console tirades back to 2003-2005 where they belong.
This Doom won't have actual mod support, so nobody's gonna be playing this a decade+ later, (

Christ, you're acting like a fucking idiot. That was a factual statement you quoted, not an "anti-console tirade"...However, there's nothing wrong with opposing something that holds us back, and advocating for improvements that move us forward...In fact, doing so is how things eventually change for the better.

My point exactly.

Don't worry, Eva's susceptable to outbursts of fanboy rage. We all have an inferiority complex to some degree. I choose to cope by being an asshole, and Eva chooses to cope by seeking validation through choice of game console.
That said I still think Eva's right about Doom 3 having failed hard by trying to be a horror game. It's not even as if it was a particularly effective horror game. Jumpscares work OK in some kinds of movies, but games work better when you have enemies traveling the map unpredictably.
It's just due to the nature of games vs. movies. Movies have a lot that occurs offscreen but in games it's usually pretty easy to start figuring out where the monster closets are....not to mention that the walkthroughs on the internet will reveal them all. Give the monsters semi-random pathing and spawning like in System Shock 2 and it dramatically undermines the player's ability to anticipate encounters. I DARE you to finish System Shock 2 without getting caught off guard at least a few times.

Nice try, your efforts to side-step the fact that your previous post was delivered with condescension and snark.
"Now, console players can make maps too!" Multi-platform development is a necessity of modern AAA development to justify the ever increasing budgets needed to remain competitive. They need to reach as many customers as possible. Bellyaching about this shit almost decade after the seventh gen console era isn't going to change anything. The ship has not only sailed, but lapped the world a hundred times over at this point.
We don't know if Doom 4 will be hard-capped at 60fps, what we DO KNOW is that they're TARGETING 60fps at 1080p. What does this affect? Maybe graphical fidelity. If you're a graphics whore then tough bickies, go buy some shitty, vapid glorified tech demo game like Ryse: Son of Rome and proceed to masturbate. My opinion? Gameplay > graphics and Doom 4 looks like it will deliver that in spades. I'm happy that Carmack fucked off to VR land (hahaha, good luck with that becoming little more than a passing fad!); the Zenimax restructured Id Software seems to be focusing on making games first rather than technology demonstrations like that Megatexture garbage.
If the game is locked to 60fps however? Ideally developers shouldn't tie their game physics to framerates, but it's FAR from the end of the world really. Only niche groups really give a shit about achieving more than 60fps, CS playing eSports bros and idiots who buy "gamer monitors" with shitty TN panels.

That's cute. Claiming discussion points brought up by others were already done so by yourself.

I want to punch that imbecile who thought that this hideous box art was a good idea. It's not possible to be any more generic than that. :nono:

Who said the game itself wouldn't be generic. Maybe it's a perfect match.

I'm amused by the futuristic armor juxtaposed with the shotgun's wooden stock.
