I've had eltonbrand since i was level 15 and the games got a hole lot easyer since then:ebil:
IT IS AMASING: 10-60 damage, 10-20 fire damage and (i think) fortify attack +20!!! :o

No. Custom made weapons rule. My custom enchanted Sixth House Bell Hammer which does the drain hits spell on strike - drains my enemy and gives ME the hits. Plus nothing is immune to the drain spell - not so fire damage.
Paralyising weapons are good too. Get one too and you can use it before that sword. Nice. Evil.

Except you might want to cast resist paralysis on yourself first, seeing as tougher enemies often have a constant effect reflect....

Well, putting aside the fact that Cenrith's question was about swords, and that a Sixth House Hammer is a blunt weapon... :)
I think that the game's pre-made Artifact weapons are far and away better than any custom-made weapon. They simply have higher enchantments than could ever be put into any in-game weapon (except via cheating, of course).
I don't recall how many enchantment points a Sixth House Hammer has... but it's got to have a lot less potential enchantment that a weapon like Eltonbrand or Hopesfire or Trueflame or Skullcrusher has. I think. I'll have to check it out in-game when I get home, cause the UESP seems to have gone away. Again.

If you know how to unenchant you can take TrueFlame, unenchant it, and replace its meager 30 fire damage for 1 second with 60 fire damage for 2 seconds. When i figure out how, I'm going to put Absorb Health 60 for 2 seconds! Just imagine that! :ebil:

The in game artifacts can not come even remotely close to the damage of a custom weapon.
You can enchant an ebony scimitar to absorb 100 health for 2 seconds when striking.
This will usually kill a Golden Saint in 1 swing.
Plus, absorb health cannot be reflected and its effects are permanent unlike an absorb stat effect.

Actually, the spell can be reflected.. however with absorb health you won't take any damage (the health you recieve will be your own).
