I'm in the Shrine of Molag Bal, and when I walk up to the statue I get a box on my screen with "statue of Molag Bal" similiar to the one I saw in the Shrine of Azura.
So I think to myself, "Ahh-ha, another quest!" But when I click on dialouge the statue says nothing. Could there be something on my person (like skomma) or something that is offending Bal?
Or am I supposed to have something to offer? I haven't been sent here as part of a quest mission or anything, I just happened to wander past the entrance and thought I'd take alittle look inside. I wish serendipity worked so well in the real world ... I swear you can't throw a scamp more than 10 feet in this game without hitting the door to an Ancestral Tomb or something!

Well, first off, check your journal to make sure you didnt miss what he said.
Second, I'm PRETTY sure this is the guy that gives you the quest with the reward of the very cool helm of Oreyn Bearclaw. If it is, head into Gnisis and search around all of the exits, and look for 3 guys. Your gonna have to kill em, so just go attack em, once they are dead, head back to the statue for the helm.
This could also be one of the statues that is just there and dosent do anything.

Ok,
Let me make sure I got this right- you want me to head on over to Gnisis, look for 3 guys around the exits, figuring that I'm gonna have to kill them anyway, just go ahead and wack em?
Oh, on the other hand, this could just be one of those statues thatt doesnt say anything. And as far as the killing spree ... well sorry guys, my mistake. Simple case of mistaken identity.

PS: I will check my journal, good advice

There are at least 4 statues that activate(you have your crosshair over them, and the name appears, and something happens when you use it) and dont give you quests... I can only think of 2 right now, one is in bal fell and one is in ald daedroth. The four statues im talking about are part of a high ranking temple quest. Molag Bal does have a statue that gives you a quest, and he has another statue that is only part of the temple quest.
There is a daedric ruin on an island west of Tel Aruhn, in there is the quest giving statue of Molag Bal... I think, if that isn't it, then it's west of ald velothi.
All of the 'bad' Daedric Princes have two 'activateable' statues, one of each of which is their contribution to a certain Temple quest. The other statue of theirs each gives a specific, different weapon based on whose statue it is. Boethial also has two statues, technically speaking, but that's only possible through the player's instigation.
Molag Bal's "temple" statue is in Bal Fel, and it doesn't do anything unless you have that quest (well, it also does something if you're a Vampire...), and his "weapon" statue is in Yansirramus, which is likely the one Kilana was likely thinking of. (It's west of Tel Aruhn)

Thanks,
Last night I'm wandering around and I duck into another shrine and there I find another statue of Molag Bal. Thats when I realize that there's more than just one of them out there!
This one talks to me, (I was in the Yansirramus Shrine). I then headed back over to the other shrine with a Molag Bal statue just to make note of what the outside shrine was called and that one was Bal Ur.
So, :erm: I could already guess what was waiting for me here in the forum. Thanks for not chewing me out!

Chewing you out? Heck, everyone (me included) has their thick moments; we can't very well criticize yours, now can we? ;)

well, i couldnt give you specifics because i couldnt remember their names, plus, where would the fun be in that for you? And those guys are pretty distinct, they all look like warriors and blah blah blah.....well at least i tried to help, just shows how appreciative some people really are.
