I was looking on Steam for something slower to play, and found myself wondering if a game like this exists.
Remember in Homeworld, when you were slowly moving your main capital ship to somewhere and then engaging in combat elsewhere in the sector? Imagine that sort of pace, but just with a large battleship that you are improving, FTL style. So like FTL I guess, but on a much larger scale and potentially fighting multiple smaller ships with or without other capital ships.
If not - someone should make one!

Yep Eva, that looks somewhat what I was thinking of. Thanks, I'll explore it.

I got a set of tiny space battleship models in Japan and wrote out a table top game for them that had that kind of slow paced maneuvering gameplay. It's like a card dogfighting game I liked, where the cards in your hand were maneuvers, like you put the model stand over the "incoming" slot in the card and move the model to the "outgoing" slot, and then when you link with other ships you can board them and have in-ship battles, and it had special mechanics like cloaking system & fighter swarms.
I thought it was great, but I never found a local group of people wanting to play it with me though, even for testing purposes.

Can you turn it into a computer game?

I don't know if the translation would work. I think it's the touchy feely part of having these little models of battlecruisers taking these slow arcs over the tabletop to vie for position for their fusillades that's kind of the whole point that makes it engaging. But I mean sure, it's pieces and a rule set, so it could work as a computer game as well as any game like that could. The catch there is I already have a queue of vidya games I want to make already.

Not a battleship, but a train: (

Haven't played it, but it's on my wishlist. Ticks all your boxes except space and multiple vehicles, as far as I can tell.
