And... Haven't tested this one out - Does wall hugging really make you invisible? Even if you're in direct light? What if an alerted guard is searching for you? Will he not see you if you're suddenly hugging the wall? What if you're hugging a tree? :weird: :nono:
Based on my experience, if you wall hug in a very dark area (pitch black or close) an alert guard can run right into you and won't see you. You can't hide in direct light, though. The problem is that if you alert a guard you can often run into a dark spot, wall hug, then wait until he gives up searching. It makes things pretty easy if you play it that way. It only seems to make you invisible when a guard is in search mode and doesn't know where you are, though. If a guard is right on your tail and you turn a corner and wall hug, he'll still kill you.

No luck with UT2k3's UCC.exe yet, most likely because I don't have enough understanding as to how it works.
I exported most of the script packages from DeadEd, then copied UCC.exe and *.dll from the UT2003\System folder to Thief3\System folder (the one with the editor). Afterwards I duplicated *.t3u to *.u (answering no twice), and deleted the .u package I wished to recompile. Finally I copied DEFAULT.INI to T3.ini, and ran "ucc make ini=T3.ini" from the Thief3\System folder. The error I got:
Code:
MissingIni
History: appInit
Exiting due to error
Well, I'm stumped.

Yep, in darkness it does make you invisible. I asked a dev about this a few months ago and they said that it was an unfortunate bug that made it through, don't know if there's anything we can do about it.

Back to the earlier topic about dropping in the old sounds. I really don't know why I'm having a problem with this. :(
I've tried it on two separate installations of Windows, following the directions specifically. I replace the T3Main that came with Thief 3 with the T3MainRelease that came with the editor but the old Thief 1, 2 loot chime just won't play. I can't understand why if all it needs is this new Exe file. Are you guys playing it ingame or in the editor?

Mortal Monkey, have you tried using the full path to that ini? From the error your getting it looks like ucc.exe cannot find that .ini file you're specifying. It's been awhile since I've done any UnrealScripting for any unreal engine game, but I'll try to look for some answers by looking at other unreal games.

No dice. Maybe I should try treating it as an UT2k3 mod?
Rosd on 13/3/2005 at 21:01
What does just a 'ucc make' without the ini path do?

UT2003's UCC make is old, and probably obsolete. It's quite possible that Ion used the UT2004 version of it at one point or another.
You can download my UT2004 ucc.exe, uccdepend.exe, and core.dll here:

I'm not sure what uccdepend.exe is, but it sounds important.

The ucc.exe could also be from UT99. The editor seems to look alot like the one from that UT99(+ the guting and rebuilding Ion did) so why not try that one also.

It looks similar, but the Engine license is of Unreal Engine 2.x (2.5 with modification), and that license includes UT2003/4 engine as a base, plus Epic provides them with patch and update source code.
Most of the icons are Unreal Editor 3 icons anyway (just so you know it IS based on UT2003/4) - a few are added, and a few are missing (like Terrain).
