After reading through this thread, I love living here in Iceland. :cheeky:

I ended up 'boosting' my flatmate's AirCon unit while he's off on holiday.
Now my bedroom is setup with 2 fans and his AirCon...now I can actually sleep without fear of my skin melting off.
As a sidenote: did anyone else see/enjoy/realise that it was the worst thing that could happen in the heat/frolic in - the rain today?
Even the rain was warm.
Hrr...

Oh my gosh, it feels so good!
The heat seems to have subsided for today, it's only 80 degrees(or less?) here right now. And the low is supposed to be sixty! W00teh. And it feels somewhat like Fall(moi favorite season), with nice little cool breezes here and there. Mmm, oh YES! This is great, so great. *sigh* :)
Sorry about all you other folk. :erg: You may be in for a break soon, you never know. I think our's is because of the strong storms we received yesterday.

I feel less bad for myself than for my pets. The ferrets are so miserable (with a "healthy" body temperature of 108F) that I had to put ice cubes in ziplock baggies in their bed to keep them from collapsing of heat prostration. It's kind of funny to watch, though: they crawl into the bed and lie curled around the ice bag until they get too cold, then they get out and lie stretched out on the floor until they warm up, then back into the bed...
The cat, strangely enough, goes looking for sun spots to lie in. I think he has a death wish and hopes to spontaneously combust.
The worst thing is that Seattle is a city where most places don't consider air conditioning to be worth the expense, so a lot of people are slaving away in buildings that have ventilation and fans, but no cooling. I was out at a restaurant last night that supposedly had AC but it couldn't defeat the exterior heat and the interior bodies. We were sweltering even at 10 p.m. and last night was the hottest night on record for Seattle. It never dropped below 70F.

Ok, I have had quite enough of this. The 106 F temp I last posted from a couple days ago now looks cool to me. It hit 113 deg F today here in the valleys of Los angeles today. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP DAMMIT. For extra added enjoyment in addition to the 113 temp, we have moisture coming up from Baja, so that we also have humidity at about 85%. This is unacceptable. It is purely Brutal out there. I hope to god it cools off some before monday as I have to work out in it.

You should have stayed in Ontario. Reasonable temperatures and short fantastic thunderstorms in the muskokas all week.

Steaming alive.
It's only about 4 degrees cooler in our end of CA, but the humidity isn't as bad. The worst part is that with temps like this, you just know there's going to be a power outage (probably many) somewhere in the state, we just don't know where. It's West Coast Roulette. >:(
