Well, I've been level 9 now for quite some time. I could sleep and be lvl 15 now if I wanted to, but I don't know. I think it's cause I'm worried that all the monsters will level up(stealth based, so not the best at fighting), and I'll be stuck with cruddy equipment. Thing is, I can't go equipment hunting first, cause most good items are leveled. So am I damaging my character's potential by not leveling constantly? Or is it smart to hold back. I've done a lot at level 9 as well. Grey Fox, DB Listener, Arena Champion(maybe i'll join fighter's next). But I'm worried I may have screwed up in not leveling during these, incase the items are leveled. Like the blade of woe from DB. It's great, but always wonder if it could have been better.
So, final thought. Should I go ahead and level? Or hold back a bit?

I did just the opposite for my new character: forced myself to level up to around 20 before doing any of the really good quests so the leveled loot would be that much better. Right now I'm level 26 and nothing in the game can touch me :erg:

So..that's a yes on leveling? Or should I store up a few more levels before I go finishing all the good quests? I have the one given by Countess of Bruma, which I'm holding off on. Also I have The Separated at birth I'm holding off on for the shield. Haven't even touched the main quest. 'cept for turining in the amulet.

level up ASAP!!!! Yes, monsters level. BUT.....you gain strengths/abilities, and have access to better/levelled loot that MORE than compensate. Don't listen to that cruddy "advice". It's backwards logic. You'll be stuck w/no advanced skills and crappy loot.

Go ahead and level up IF you have decent combat skills. Level 15 is well past the point where the loot becomes worthy.

I disagree. Especially the 2nd part.

I'd say level 15 is about the point where loot allows you to break even (if you don't have a good armorer skill and need to buy potions.) The planes of Oblivion are terrible for this - your armor and weapon nearly gets destroyed and you rarely get enough loot to cover the repair expensives.
I learned pretty early on that a good armorer skill is a requirement. Fortunately, it's not that hard to level up even as a minor skill (like mine.)
Around level 24 is when you get the fully maxed out magical items, I think.

Break even? you mean money? hmm wierd. I have over 35K gold. I'm not sure if that's a lot, but my loot has always surpassed my buying requirements. And I've yet to see a decent item on a merchant that would break me. (They always sell enchanted axes and heavy armor). Maybe it's cause I ripped off every silver fork, cup, goblet, and pitcher in every castle in Cyrodiil.
My armorer skill isn't bad, but I can't repair magic items. Using my DB suit, with black hand hood, and both of those only cost 1gp each for a full repair. I can't find decent light armor anywhere. Sure after I leveled I'm seeing full sets of Orcish and Ebony galore. but I'm never running across mithral or elven. Also I'm finding a bunch of enchanted axes and maces as random loot, but never blades.
I kind of wish I was higher than 16 now. Just found a pair of mithral leggings and boots in an ayleid ruin. Leggings give me 13 spell absorb. Boots +8 to sneak. almost wish I had waited, so they may have been better. But I need to dungeon crawl to level, but going through dungeons makes me run across certain items, then I wish I had gone somewhere else to level so I could come back and get a better item. Guess it doesn't work that way. Maybe I'll just train my levels. Buy points in armorer, blade, and light armor. Though armorer won't level me, it will boost my endurance.

i agree with the levelling up idea..

This is a single player game. You don't have to trouble yourself with trying to obtain the best of everything. Just have fun. ;)
Just doing whatever I felt like and not following any guides, I have developed a level 35(ish) bow/blade stealth character who destroys everything. If you feel that you aren't dealing enough damage with stealth try spending more time experimenting with alchemy. I have some recipes that offer three different health damaging effects. Very deadly.:ebil:
