There's a fraction of scientists who say that HIV doesn't cause AIDS, and a minority that says drug companies cause AIDS from medicating people and HIV is harmless (sounds like hardcore denial to me though). Other autoimmune diseases may cripple the immune system, but what are they getting at when they say that HIV does not cause AIDS? If enough people believe HIV is just a harmless virus and drug companies are evil and making people sick to take money, they may infect others.
Most people in the world don't have access to medications, and progress to AIDS much faster and have a shorter lifespan than people who can afford medication. HIV medication is often denied until the patient has developed AIDS due to the high prices of meds.
There are all the conspiracy theories, like a cure for HIV is out there, but really, how good are people at keeping secrets.

98% of Africans aren't medicated at all. Medication is normally thousands of dollars a year.

I'd like to think that in 170 years of germ theory we've gotten pretty good at establishing causitive pathologies.
Which is a fancy way of saying of course HIV causes fucking AIDS and anyone who says otherwise is a crackpot, an agenda pusher, or a Foo Fighter.

How could HIV not cause AIDS? AIDS isn't a disease, it's the result of HIV infection.
That's like wondering if having tiny hairs grow out of your face causes beards.
