Whenever I listen to the Thief soundtracks, I always wish Eric Brosius (and whoever else contributed) didn't save their Thiefy talents for
only Thief games. I would think that sometimes Eric would want to make Thief-like music on the side (as an artist/musician for fun... or for a self-published album). But has he? I've been unable to locate anything. It seems like his band was music that was completely different than Thief; and Harmonix probably doesn't make anything Thiefy.
Also, just saw this. Might be old news:

If you thinking about melodic parts of this soundtrack theт you have to look for Djawadi's works (all of them pretty are dull imho, only in capetown's ost i (think i) found something familiar). As Eric Brosius himself said his work was only ambient effects and mixing(

All of this is very subjective, I know, but...
I absolutely love those ambient themes in Thief games. For example the whole Trail of Blood mission soundtrack is a piece of art: its separate parts are great to listen on the loop and in the mission they "switch" so seamlessly and on the spot and add so much to the mystical, ancient, pagan and at the same time dangerous (danger of the unknown and strange) atmosphere there.
Also love the Framed, Blackmail, Running Interference soundtracks. Credit music is something phenomenal too.
So I would too love to hear something similar.

I agree - love Eric Brosius' thief OST. Wish he would do an solo album in the dark ambience genre. I'd buy it in a heart beat. I've searched for Thiefy music in the past but nothing quite gets there like Brosius' work.

Oh, thanks, but I bet Djawadi got too focused on compositions for film and TV :-/ I wonder why Brosius, historically, gets a lot (or all) of the credit.
But Trail of Blood in the more reflective/melodic part as you approach the Pagan village... or the cyclical ambience in Framed... or the droning ambience in Running Interference? Do you think that stuff is more Djawadi or Brosius?
As for full music pieces, I particularly like (

Not sure if these were Brosius, Djawadi, or someone else? Guess I have imprinted on my mind that Brosius should get credit for most of Thief's music and ambience.
Kristijonas, sounds like we are kind've on the same page. I also like the music in the very first briefing of Thief 2, especially the swelling sound going from about 00:16s - 00:38 (
https://youtu.be/AcTngTAqr88?t=16s) here. I wish that sound was used in more places than that, and is actually a big part of what got me wondering if there were Thiefy works by Brosius outside of Thief. But, maybe it was Djawadi who I should be giving most credit to?
If anyone knows other places that swelling sound in RI's briefing gets used, please let me know...

Yeah I love precisely the melody you meant in the interference intro video. I also like the second floor ambient of the same mission. It gives a very coldish-clearminded feeling and sounds nicely like wind going through a metallic hallway or a ventilation shaft. It does seem like we have very similar tastes at least in T2 Darkness_Falls so that's nice since I thought I was the only one :D It's kinda embarrassing but I've actually loop-listened to T2 ambients for at least several thousand hours. (Yes, I know a thousand hours is 40+ full days). It's as if certain parts of the ambience, especially the trail of blood parts, have a very interesting effect on my mind. Takes it to a very strange place. Not sure if anyone experienced the same.

Same here ;) I could probably listen to the second floor ambient forever and not grow tired of it

I've listened to it many times over. At work, at gym, before bed, on walks. A lot, heh. It was an addiction for a wihle. I don't think I total several thousand hours, though. You win there! ;)

I'm fairly sure Djawadi only worked on the actual music of System Shock 2 and had nothing to do with any Thief game. As far as I know, all the sound in Thief was by Brosius.
To address the topic, I feel Brosius is at his best when composing for a game. His strength lies in short ambient loops that deliberately forgo any musical elements. Deadly Shadows was his only attempt at a musical, album-like soundtrack and imho was the weakest of the 3 games in terms of ambient sound design (although still very good, certainly).
Darkness_Falls on 20/6/2016 at 11:50
Yeah, I prefer his droning and hypnotic loops mixed in with elements of music, like in Thief 2, rather than the full music pieces of T3. Who knows if T3's music was his idea, or Ion Storm's directive. In the end, I'm really happy we have a few of the tracks in T3's soundtrack... but I still would have far-preferred T2-style ambients for it

He didn't even write release date correctly :erg:
