OK, it's a bloated resource hog and allows all sorts of undesirables through but I think it's a bit much to call it a virus - who asked you anyway! 'Spect you just fancy yourself as a pirate - Avast there me hearties. :laff:
Sorry Brian T - Queue just needs stepping on occasionally and for the greater good of the community I volunteered to do the deed! :cheeky:

Oh, Queue...I've been to the liquor store.

4" stilettos extra! :ebil:
Anyway, I'm no expert, but I do run a fair amount of protective software: McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0.0 (subscription); Lavasoft's Ad-Aware 2007 Plus with Ad-Watch (subscription); Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5.2.20 (free); SpywareBlaster v4.0 (free); Piriform's CCleaner v2.07.575 (great for cleaning out temp files & shredding stuff in your recycle bin). I also have several other programs "in case" I need some heavy duty scanning. This combo was good enough for me until I got "smart" and decided that if one was good, two was better, right?
I definitely want to state it again loud & clear.
Do not run more than one anti-virus program at once. Also, do not run more than one anti-spyware real-time scanner at once. I enabled Spybot's Teatimer real-time scan while also using my paid Ad-Watch scanner. I managed to get a mess of Vundo, Zlob, Smitfraud-C, and a handful of others because real-time scanners don't play well together. Same goes for anti-virus.
I don't know a thing about Windows ME, but I do know that (
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35) MajorGeeks.com has an excellent free Malware help forum. These guys helped me clean my mess without wiping my C drive! They have an extensive list of programs available, and I imagine that if you posted a question there about the best options for ME somebody over there would know.
Good luck!

Thank' ee all for your detailed advice. Panda contacted me back and suggested I return the program to the store, and PC World gave me a new copy with no hassle (pleasant surprise).
So far I'm quite pleased with the program in general, it's quite unobstrusive and seems to be quite self reliant, but- and it's a big but- I keep on getting many, many "The Connection Was Reset" page loading errors when trying to access web pages. It's not uncommon to spend a minute clicking to actually access a web page. I'll see if my new copy fixes that problem. If it doesn't, well as good as it may be otherwise be it's gotta go. Can't waste my life away staring at Connection Reset messages.:grr:
Stay tuned....
