Heywood isn't saying that size and gender doesn't matter. He is saying that training matters more. Generally, a trained woman will wipe the floor with most untrained men, even if they are bigger than her.

I think there's an element of tautology in what you're saying there too, Krush. There isn't a combined league in soccer because women are always considered to be worse players. It's evidence OF sexism rather than evidence for it.
