Oh, I might as well.
If you like Synaesthesia, you should check on other Fulber/Leeb projects. Delerium is too pop-y for me, but maybe some Frontline Assembly (i.e. Implode) could be your thing.
Also "Papa Dark Ambient", Lustmord. Get Stalker, Place Where The Black Stars Hang, Zoetrope, and maybe Purifying Fire and Metavoid.
Some movie OSTs maybe. Alien Trilogy etc. Games too: Thief 3, Homeworld, Quake 1, Alice, The Dig.
For a very different take in that direction, try Autechre's Confield. It's amazing.

Half-Life actually has a lot of good creepy stuff. Vague Voices, Sirens In the Distance, to name two full length songs, and then a few >1/1.5 things that really smother on the creep.

I dare you to name a Delerium track before 'Semantic Spaces'.

Ok, you got me there. I only have Semantic Spaces and Karma. Recommend one! Is Morpheus any good?

Curious thing, I'm revisiting Intermix these days. Which is not particularly dark, but it's interesting that it doesn't sound much dated either, for early 90s techno. Most tracks would stand well on a stage today. I bet Leeb & Fulber should have been counted among original co-inventors of IDM when it comes down to Intermix. Just Future Primitives is kinda too ethnic for me.
Schattentänzer has hinted an idea from another cauldron - try to play Jerry Goldsmith's soundtrack to 'Alien' when you are home alone and going to sleep, for better dreams. It's almost unbelievable what sounds he managed to squeeze out from orchestra, it's 100% electronic-free. But I mean you should obtain limited complete score edition for that (and pay particular attention to 'composer's cut' playlist on it).
Homeworld had some creepy parts - I will never forget Karos Spaceship Graveyard mission.

Indeed it is. But pretty much everything Delerium did before Sematic Spaces is Very Good Indeed, if you like slow, dark, haunting, creepy stuff. You can't really buy a "bad" album from that era. Get one, either one, and if you like it, get everything. It's one big lump of coherent goodness, save for the EP Euphoric, which gets slightly bouncier but is also quite excellent.
Not that I dislike the pop that came from Semantic Spaces and afterwards; I just hold the opinion that, given Leeb&Fulber's compulsive need to invent gazillions of project names, they should have invented another one with Semantic Spaces and onwards since it's such a clear departure from earlier Delerium.
Regarding Intermix: I agree the first two are, while different, Really Quite Good. I seem to recall, at the time of the first Intermix album, it was sort of a joke to make fun of contemporary techno, but it turned out rather well so it was properly released. This could be all wrong and just a false rumour and I take no responsibility for it. I particularly enjoy Targeted and Monument from albums 1 and 2 respectively. The third album left me somewhat indifferent. Too much like, and sampled off of, Deep Forest and the likes. Should perhaps have been released as Synaesthesia instead.
But Intermix is generally a bit too bouncy for this thread, I think. ;)
[Edit]
For people who don't know what Delerium is like, (
http://www.ludd.ltu.se/users/h-son/data/faith.zip) here is a 1 minute excerpt of one of their catchier tracks from their slow, dark, period. It's the track 'Faith' from the album 'Morpheus', 1989. If it sounds like an intro to something that never really gets going, well, yes, that's pretty much early Delerium for you. Long, six-minute intros of atmosphere, that grow and evolve, and never burst out into a full-on pop song with special guest vocalist Kristy Thirsk. Not that that's a bad thing either, but clearly different.

Yes, I do like dark music as I am a fan of Black Metal such as Immortal, as well as Industrial music such as Skinny Puppy.

I have just one question:
Where does Conway Twitty fall in?
*making my way to Twitty-City with a really big fro and a song in my heart*

Chiasm is some good stuff I recently found that I liked. I am not sure if I suggested that already. "Disorder" is a fave. They ought appeal to most folks into something like the kidney thieves.
"Archie and Veronica" by Lovage has the usual stylings evocative of goth.
Mostly, though, they are silly, kind of electro-groovy stuff about sex. And the girls voice *almost* makes one need new shorts after listening.
