Do you guys ever plan on changing/updating the front news on the TTLG homepage? - by thief0

It gets kind of depressing to constantly see "I interview Irrational.." whenever I enter ttlg.com

People still read that? :p

I'm kind of waiting for the next big thing...
Not sure of what that will be, yet, but we'll see.
Seriously, though, most of us folks running this place barely have the free time to maintain the status quo. :erg: Sure, it's easy enough to just throw up a news blurb on there about some interview that happened with an ex-LGS developer somewhere, but I think at this point a next big thing is the only thing that will get that page rolling again.

I think the expectations, especially of the people to write this, are way too high by now. Just start somewhere and even if you presented us with a largely empty page that contains only the most basic information and links, it would be a step forward, something to work with and a sign.

I'm about half way through writing a bitchin' CMS for the whole network that would really make it easier to post news and reduce the need for any kind of tech knowledge on behalf of the contributors (the current CMS was written back in '97, so it's pretty simplistic), so we could bring more people on board.
Still haven't found a hub design I am especially happy with, but if anyone wants to take a crack at it, be my guest.

Is it ignorant or unreasonable of me to suggest the creation of a temporary home page, at a daughter URL, for critique for a trial period? If no one is inspired to volunteer, then just trash it, and let it recede into the shadows again, along with the FAQ revisions everyone wants but won't tackle.:o

Speaking of the FAQs, I find that this TTLG policy of saying: "Hey you send us a completely revised FAQ and we put it up!" is a lame excuse.
It's not asking too much from the mods to gather some very obvious links and information that have been floating around the forums for years, or incorporate individual changes suggested by members.

On shockgen D'Arcy doesn't have the rights to update the FAQ. So it's just been rotting for years.
