Look, I'll make it easy - ask any South African what District 6 is. Heck, tell them about the film and then tell them the title and THEY will be the ones who bring up District 6. There is no way that it is a coincidence and thus no way this film has "nothing" to do with apartheid. Well, the setting at least.
Huh. I just assumed it was called
District 9 because they thought it sounded cool or for whatever other random reason. You know, like how that cheesy French action film which came out a couple years ago was called
District 13.
Of course I suppose that film might have been referencing that particular incident as well.
