So I guess we do the now-usual thing and wait for the cash grab to tank so the publisher lets them return to what they do best?

Looks like my future is going to be mainly indie games and Nintendo.

An MMO spearheaded by Randy Smith? Is there a reason we don't have a dedicated thread for this?

Its kinda weird, I found an article from March of last year saying he's "in charge of design at Darewise" but if you go to the "Core Team" area of their website, he's nowhere to be found. But there are others listed there as "Lead World Design" and "Game Designer." Maybe they just haven't updated it in a while.

I guess when I read about the game, I just didn't find it all that interesting, despite Randy's involvement. It just didn't look like my kinda thing, or the kinda thing that would be all that popular here at TTLG. But that was a while ago.

I finished it! Finally, thankfully. I was getting pretty sick of it by the end.
Now I've moved on to Prey, which I bought with DH2 in the last Steam sale, and I'm enjoying it a lot more already. Guess I'll go catch up on the 20-page thread we've got here.

I had no problem with the writing in D2, nor the gameplay, nor the graphics, etc. I enjoyed the game thoroughly. For cryin' out loud, what game
doesn't have repetitive NPC lines in the script? Skyrim is one of my all-time favorites, yet the NPC's repetitive lines in that game were enough to make me wish I could just mute them all after awhile. I'm still hoping (beyond hope) that Arkane will produce another Dishonored game; beats the last two Thief games, hands-down.
Eh. You don't escape constantly repeated lines even in real life as any visit to a fast food restaurant or television news hour will demonstrate.

If you didn't, I can only assume you must've had cotton wool in your ears whilst playing Dark Messiah.
As for Dishonored 2, I guess I will see myself soon enough, so thanks for your counterpoints, Thirith and Sulphur.
Any updated impressions? I missed this one on the last sale so maybe next time.

Wait till you get to the DLC for Dishonored 2. I played that total chaos and it just felt completely wrong. Plot wise if you'ved played the main campaign to the end you'll know that the majority of the opponents for the first 1/2 of the game aren't even bad guys. After that its fine. I was half half on the dlc for DH2 overall. The one for DH1 in comparison was great.
Based on the wiki, the DLC for Dishonored 2 seemed like it was a kind of "forced ending" to the story intended to close out the possibility of any future marked protagonists in the setting. I can imagine the overall plot suffering as a result.

Who isn't an enemy?
"Enemy" is subjective based on your point of view, but all the palace troops you encounter are opponents sure, but enemies I'd say their not. I base this off how the main campaign ends with
the troops for the palace now being under the queens command again, which you could have potential played as, or at least you helped her get back into taking back her crown. So plot wise their not enemies at all. Opponents to either knock out or avoid sure, but killing just (for me) felt plain wrong, as they were following her orders.
Compare that to the main campaign where sure they were your enemies through and through. Make sense?
