Yeah I used GFE, doesn't make a spot of difference. And I'm running full default settings in the GCP. It also literally does not matter what visual settings I use in-game, until I hit 'restore defaults' I'll get screen tearing. After that I can switch to whatever preset or use the GFE settings, doesn't matter it works until I relaunch the game.

My Adaptive Resolution setting also resets to 75.
We really need stuttering/tearing fix fast.

Especially when there's an embargo on review copies so the early-access testers can't report this stuff.
As for me, I'm thinking of upgrading my PC soonish, so I'll just hold off until then. By that time, most of the issues will hopefully have been ironed out.

playing games right when they come out sounds kind of miserable
Yes, it is miserable.
I made an exception for Dishonored 2, because I wanted to support Arkane and our fellow TTLGers there. ;) Unfortunately, the game has some serious technical issues. And I would not recommend playing it right now.
But in spite of that I am really having fun so far. Level design is absolutely amazing (with the exception of Dust District), art direction is stunning, gameplay possibilities are endless, sneaking is probably the best since Thief... The only serious problem is repetitive story with weak presentation. This review adresses Dishonored 2 story problems:

Well, I guess that after The Witcher 3 each story in video game will seem... poor.

Wow, that's harsh. And not even a mention of Stilton Manor...

You mean the review?
I agree with the reviewer only in the part about story. There are not enough words in my dictionary to praise level design in this game.

Interesting that people's overall impression was that dishonored 1's story, characters, and lore were good. I found them to be the weakest part of the game and a constant intrusion because of how much they disrupted my suspension of belief.
Yes, it got weird being praised for restraint after sending some guy I didn't know to the mines with eyes and tongue cut out. Also yes, Lady Boyle's rapist. Corvo never questions if his targets are deserving of their fate despite being in uniquely relatable position considering he was unfairly punished himself. There's no option but to blindly obey the loyalists despite having magical powers. Why would Corvo trust these people and go along with their plan without question? Why does he even need these clowns? It makes little sense he'd stick around or even open himself up to the later, unsurprising betrayal.
The world is absurdly dark beyond belief. Somehow under our perfect empress's rule she allows an organization (the overseers) to basically kidnap and murder children to fill their ranks? BIG RED FLAG. She's a big fan of Sokolov who invents all sort of Geneva convention breaking military tech including chemical altered soldiers on stilts who have had their empathy removed with drugs.
What. The. Fuck.
But she's the good guy right?
Why would the military continue to obey when their children are being kidnapped and killed and their forced to kill their brothers and sisters? What do the tall boys do after a long day at work and the horror sinks in that they've been blasting women and children all day.
To top is off the absolute worst bit of writing was the villain's master plan unleashing a plague that would wipe out the poor, the very lifeblood of the country's labor and economy. It made sense in Deus Ex because the Grey Death was a means to an end. The villains create the virus, then make money on the vaccine all the while controlling the political elite from behind the shadows by controlling the supply. When the time is right they impose martial law without contest because the leaders cannot help but go along with their plan and then they can then eliminate undesirables that might threaten their new world order.
But Dishonored isn't a story of corporations and shadowy cabals taking over world governments. No, in Dishonored the villain's motivation for releasing the plague is that the poor are weak and lazy. That's it. Did this genius ever consider who is going to work the factories after the poor get wiped out? The docks?
Am I taking crazy pills? Can someone tell me how Dishonored 1 had a good story or good characters???
froghawk on 19/11/2016 at 17:03
The fact that I can't even remember half of that as being part of the plot after playing the game at least 3x at all says all that needs to be said about the storytelling.
It most certainly did NOT have a good story or characters, easily the weakest part of the game. Almost felt like an afterthought, tbh.
It was my game of the year, and the world they created was wonderful, but the plot and characters they populated it with were nothing special.

It's the same this time. If not worse.
It's a shame that such an incredible level design and great gamplay ideas were buried under cliche story, boring conversations and weak characters. The texts (letters, notes) are OK: not as boring as the ones from Skyrim, but not nearly as good as the ones from The Witcher 3 or Thief.
Arkane really should look for some talented storyteller in order to create 10-out-of-10 games. They already have great level design and gameplay design team.
I hope someone from Arkane will realise that good story (interesting characters, plot twists etc.) is as important as good level design, and Dishonored 3 will be Thief of our times.
I am also afraid that there might be one more serious problem with Dishonored 2... I finished Stilton's manor and I have a feeling that there's only one more level to play. If so, the game is definitely too short. Not because of short playtime, but because of inability to use the powers that I was collecing during gameplay. There should be at least 2-3 more levels in order to play with the abilities that were gained before Stilton's manor.

Well, they do have Chris Avellone working on Prey apparently.
