Hey, Digi! While you're sortakinda here, see if you can put in a good word, and get them to implement being able to skip through the splash screens for the next patch.
Hazarding a guess, I think Bethesda may be none too keen on users skipping the corporate ident splash, but as this is an id engine game with code going back to Doom and more relevantly, Doom 3 / Quake 4, this might do the trick:
Right-click the game in your Steam library and choose "Create Desktop Shortcut"
Right click on the shortcut, go to Properties, and under Target add +disconnect:
"...\...\Dishonored2.exe" +disconnect
Alternatively, right-click the game in your Steam library, choose Properties, and under the General tab, click the "Set launch options..." button, then type +disconnect in there.
I'd try it myself, but I'm at work at the mo.

So, took the plunge. Haven't got far enough in for any real judgements yet, but a) looks nice, b) FEELS nice, c) yeah the intro is pretty much as ham-fistedly delivered as everyone said, wow, d) why does everything looks so damn blurry? I've turned off dof and display scaling, is there some kind of motion blur or something? Can I turn it off? It is super off-putting, ooh and e) is there also some kind of wierd splotchy overlay? I can't work out if there's something on my screen or if it's some kind of film-grain style annoying overlay.

Technical question: I've installed the game on to SSD, but I've noticed a peculiar pattern when loading the game for the first time on a day-to-day basis. One day, the game will take an age to progress the orange load bar on the Corvo/Emily portrait screen, but the next it'll load incredibly quickly. This seems to alternate on a daily basis.
I've installed it on to HDD, but I am experiencing the same inconsistent (first) loading time. I tried to figure out some pattern here. No luck. Sometimes it's very fast, sometimes it's very long. And it is not connected with turning the computer on or off.
The savegames are loading rather quick.

I am not sure what you mean. It might be the textures (yes, they are not "sharp"), so... the part of art direction. Check my previous posts with screenshots. The textures are on ULTRA and they look rather "blurry". And yes, there is some kind of "splotchy overlay" that you can easily notice. See here (on the left side):

Yeah maybe it's texture draw distance or something, stuff that's further than 10ft away just looks a bit like I've forgotten my glasses. And yeah, looking at your screenshots, there IS some kind of splotchy overlay! Can I turn that off?

I was the level designer of Clockwork Mansion, along with Yoann Saquet on the streets section (He did The Bridge on Dis 1) and David Di Giacomo on architecture with animation work by François Delnord.
Thank you. It really means a lot. :)
I actually don't know what that initial loading screen is doing and why the time it takes varies so much. I could ask.
I don't any ETA on the patch. I'm sorry.

Hey, don't worry Digi. We should really just stop peppering you with questions and just proceed to the backslapping and beers :)
Your status under your name now makes even more sense.
Seriously, while Stilton's manor has more "WOW!" to it, I know that it's really just the same level with slight modifications being rendered at the same time and using the engine's built-in portal technology to overlay the two. But the Clockwork Mansion? That takes some serious design chops. To have it all whir and click together, yet still feel like an actual place rather than a series of connected abstract spaces is a remarkable achievement.

Congratulations! I seriously think you deserve an award for the best level design achievement in the history of video games. And since I tried some fan level design myself I am very picky about that. I suppose designing such mansion required not only tons of incredible skills, but also some architectural background.
In short: it's a masterpiece.
I really, really liked how Addermire's Institute was designed (wonderful level and spooky atmosphere). It was a breath of fresh air after (quite good, albeit not-so-impressive) first mission (Dunwall streets). But in the Clockwork Mansion I had to pick my jaw up off the floor all the time. Now I am entering the Conservatory... Hope it's good too.
Is Purah still working at Arkane? What mission did he design?

Oh yeah, I had intense deja vu on the final level last night.
Sorry for the big block of spoiler blue...
It's perfectly reproduced from the first game, yet with enough differences to make it distinct. It took me a while to realise "Waitaminute, I've played this before!", and once it clicked, I recognised where I'd played hide and seek in the first game's intro; I knew that the Security Control Room was where the dungeon was in the first game; I found Jessamine's secret room, opened the same way; I remembered with fondness crawling around the piping around the ceiling of the kitchens.
Now of course, the initial thought is to dismiss it as a simple port from the first game to the second, but I suspect that the engines are different enough that that's probably not the case here. Again, wonderful level design and a great nod to the original game.
I'm not that far yet, but is the Clockwork Mansion the one where you get that device that lets you see back in time?
Malf on 17/11/2016 at 14:45
Nope, that's Stilton's Manor.
