My guess? Bethesda own id now so own the engine.

Best to wait this one out until they fix it. On top of the FPS problems, there's this weird adaptive mouse sensitivity which shoots up as soon as your frames drop.
EDIT: Worth noting I'm on an R9 390 and i5 4690k @ 3.5 GHz.

I'm running the game on high, no AA, and it's runs solidly, if not spectacularly from what I've seen. I can tell it's not running at a full 60 FPS clip, but I doubt it's dipping as low as the 30's. I'll post up some videos to show it off here in a second.
Oh, and are there any differences between Dishonored with all the DLCs, and the Definitive Edition? If not, I've got a key to give away. :D

If it includes DLC, I'd be up for that.

I tried recording it, but the video comes up really, really dark for some reason. I'll keep trying at it.
Though according to the FPS overlay, on my i5 4590, Geforce 970, and 8 gibblies of ram, I'm averaging around 45-50 FPS, so it's not terrible.

FYI, the GameReady drivers are out for nVidia owners, so a good idea to install those first if you haven't (375.70 WHQL, 28th Oct) and give the game another spin, see if it improves things for you. Just ensure you turn TXAA off, apparently that's the thing that's doing the thing that slows down all the things for this thing.

I downloaded the latest drivers earlier today.
I also tweaked draw distance down to medium, and set FXAA-High, per the Geforce Experience recommendation. It didn't seem to make any huge difference either way. Still averaging around that same 45-50 FPS, which is perfectly fine for me.

Finally got the damn thing to work. The new Geforce Experience is stupid dumb, and doesn't let you set specific hotkeys to instantly start recording. Even worse, hitting alt-z to bring up their new, overly complicated overlay minimizes the game for some reason, and jumping back into to start recording would net me darker than usual videos.
It was only when I used the instant replay feature that I was able to net watchable video. So here you all go.
Don't expect much. It's just me screwing around. But you do get to see how much better I am with the Steam Controller these days.

I'd say the upgrades to the visuals are more than slight.
That's something I noticed about the complaints against DX:MD. A lot of people complained about the same thing you just did above, that MD didn't look all that much better than HR, but only ran half as well. But when you actually go back and play HR, you're suddenly smacked by the HUGE jump in quality between the two.
Dishonored 2 is about the same. When you think back on the original, the new game doesn't seem that much better. Compare them side by side, and the differences are pretty profound.
edit: I should add that the audio tech is probably about the same. You can tell where footsteps are coming from, but conversations almost always seem closer than they should.

DX:MD is much prettier than its predecessor, even running it on the low settings I have to settle with.
