SO, anyone got to the new Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds album yet? I've been listening to the first 6 tracks today (for free, (http://www.myspace.com/nickcaveandthebadseeds) here) and I can confirm that it is good shit. Besides the titletrack be sure to listen to the songs "Today's Lesson" and "We call upon the author".

Both Abbatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus and Grinderman were sorta hit and miss for me. Hell, every Nick Cave album I've ever heard is sorta hit and miss, but the misses usualy aren't that painful to endure and the hits can be absolutely amazing. "Dig, Lazarus, dig!!!" is perhaps the catchiest song they've ever done.

I got it soon after it came out. It's pretty good. Jesus of the Moon is nice. Frankly, though, I have to be in a particular sort of mood to enjoy the distinctive lyrical spewing-forth which is Nick's main thing on this album.

He also just recently recieved an honourary doctorate in the arts from the university he dropped out of. For achievement in the Arts, of course.

Blixa's absence has had a profound effect on the Bad Seeds IMO, and not in a good way. That said, the album is great regardless. 'Lie down Here' is probably my favorite track ATM.

I don't think I've heard any of his stuff outside of the track on the Until the End of the World soundtrack.
