Yep, though it's not a 100% fair one. There's a thread somewhere around, it's called "great moments in AI" or something like that. Read up on Lam climbing. As soon as you have the Dragontooth, climb up the building shown in the picture (the big one next to the temple, it reminds me of a park deck actually...
The guy will be waiting right on top, while the thugs will appear in the lucky money...

Hm, personally I did not find Realistic all that difficult. There were a few annoying spots where I kept getting killed with single shots because the guy had a shotgun and I was only 2m away, but hey, that IS realistic.
You just have to play differently, you aren't a tank, kill them from afar or ambush them. If you have to attack from close by and he knows you're there, use something potent and aim for the head, you can't afford to hope he'll miss.

Thanks stainboy :)
It's good to know, that when you're too lazy to do something, you can still find someone else to do your work... :cheeky:

Tell me about it - i've relied on it for most of my life as i'm waaaaay too lazy :cheeky:. But I try to be helpful on the Forums, y'know? Gets you a bit of respect and besides, it beats n00b-bashing ;).
Stainboy.

Yeah, I know... I try being helpful, too. But there's an end to it... which is my laziness ;)
And actually, I think, if anyone really needs the info, they will use the search function, which happens to be something many Newbies here should learn to use.

Once youre really skilled in Deus Ex all the difficulty lelves are too easy.
mr_foo on 26/6/2002 at 11:49
i played deus ex on realistic as soon as i got it. it didn't seem that hard at all. same with thief 1+2. I play every game i get on the hardest level because if i play it on easy i u know about the game when u play it the second time on a harder level and therfore its much easier. its much more satisfing to finish it on the hardest too.

Hmm. I was personally a little disappointed that the only difference was the damage dealt to you, I felt it shouldn't have been difficult to alter accuracy, skill upgrade costs, etc.
Btw, Realistic doesn't just apply to the snipers in cathedral level. On the first level, it's possible to die with one shot from a guy with a pistol, provided he hits you in the head. This means you can basically get killed by some of the first enemies in the game! After this I really don't notice the difficulty level, possibly because I do this naughty thing were at any difficulty, andy damage at all, instant quickload.
It's automatic. :(

As much as i love Deus Ex, i don't think the combat was done very well. I hated my first escape out of the VersaLife tower, when shooting a VersaLife Cop in the face with the Assault shotgun at point blank range wouldn't kill him, simply because i wasn't skilled enough with rifles. :erg:
Just yesterday i started a new game, and on the first mission i have the same tactic i always employ when dealing with the two guards on the dock where you meet Filben ... i get their attention and then run and hide behind the bot that's patrolling nearby. Except this time after i took off up the ramp, the NSF guy fired a single shot from his pistol 100 metres away whilst running towards me, hit me in the head, and instantly killed me. :laff:
Maybe i had that last one coming, but the combat can still be frustrating at times. :p
