Died and I can't get up. - by Edify

I'm really hoping someone has the ability to help.
Was playing the other night, just got up to the rickenbacker, and I hadn't gotten one of the nanite-respawn things activated yet(first time playing through in a 6 years). As I was about to settle in for the night my character had gotten shot by a turret or something and died. So I loaded up my last quick save, and then manually saved it(at least as far as I can remember). When I loaded up the game this morning, my character has 0 health, and I can hear the turret shooting him, and then it goes back to the menu screen(I suppose since on that level I didn't have the respawn thing activated). Further disheartened by the fact that I only used 1 line as my manually save, I don't have anything to load.
I have the ability to get the console up before it kicks me back to the menu, if there is any command I can give to resurrect me/give me health. Or is there a way to edit some save/config files to give me health?.....If not....no big loss, just hard to see it all go for not.

If you were already dead when the savegame loads, then you are screwed as far as I know. :erm:

try this from GameFAQ

IMPORTANT: First make a backup of the file ''user.cfg'' in the System Shock 2 folder and save it somewhere where you would not forget it.
Using notepad, add the following line to the original ''user.cfg'' file: undead

Thx, for the input. I've tried the God mode cheat, but even that one doesn't help. The only way I can see fixing it would be editing the save game files....but I'm over it now. The games too much fun to not want to play through it again....maybe on hard or impossible now??

Now you got it. :D

I was going to suggest that too, but when your character dies, god mode ain't gonna stop the death sequence.

I'd recommend hard rather than impossible. The lower-than-low hp of impossible mode just adds to the tedium rather than enjoyment.
Of course, once you're familiar with the game, impossible is still pretty easy so..hmm. I think personally I'm going to use the extreme difficulty mod next time I play through, but with my own HPs enhanced (should be easy enough to edit the .gam file).

Tedium? Tension.

An experienced SS2 player could survive for a while with one health point, so indeed familiarity helps.
