IT'S NOT CALLED DIE HARD: RESET WILL YOU ALL JUST FUCKING STOP
I think I'll take my chances and trust IMDB on this one, thank you very much
Scots Taffer on 6/8/2006 at 11:48
You do that. After all, until recently IMDB had Aunt May from the Spiderman movies down to play Gwen Stacy in Spiderman 3.

Plot device: The "Glock 7".
Plot device: Blanks vs. Live Ammo
All I can possibly say to this is, you have some really weird priorities.

Sadly, Phydeaux and his ilk ruin the fantastic brain dead movies of our time.

...a semi auto handgun won't cycle with blanks because there's not enough recoil or blowback (depending on type of gun) to cycle the slide back.
That's not entirely true, different handgun models are different levels of cranky when it comes to blanks. Berettas in particular are very good at cycling with blanks which is why you see them in movies so often.
Also it's clearly not true that handguns "won't cycle", or else you'd never see a movie with more than one shot fired per cut.
But you're right that you can't just swap between blanks and real rounds. The gun has to be modified to use blanks and demodified to go back to live rounds.
However playing loose and fast with gun facts isn't the reason Die Hard 2 sucked. It sucked because it was a bad script and it was just a crummy production overall. And even then it wasn't
that bad, it was just unremarkable. Only gun nerds pay any notion to gun realism. In fact I had a Star Trek comparison all lined up but Scots beat me to it :(

Die Hard 3 had.....well, I don't know, did it have any?
How about the sandwich board :)

Ah yes! the sandwich board, I totally forgot about that :D
Personally, I want it to be set in Christmas and have Dick Thornberg in it, if it does not have either of them, they will have to make up for it with excellent action scenes.

So, I guess your skins did not at all try to crawl off your bodies in disbelief during the bits in every thriller made before 2001 in which they made up some hilarious TRON computer interface to show the DOWNLOADING VIRUS 80% readout instead of using anything that bore the slightest resemblance to a real-life operating system like the ones most of the audience used in their everyday lives?

Did you see me protesting the fact that velociraptors are presented (and popularized) as smarted-up Deinonychus? Of course not, I was too busy watching them rip the shit out of that game warden.

No it doesn't bother me at all it's a movie not a seminar on operating systems
Well except Hackers which was so hilariously over the top you didn't need to be a computer nerd to notice how dumb it was. Plus the movie was *about* computer hacking so you think they could have done some research.
I mean if Die Hard 2 was supposed to be about an ultra-realistic firearms expose then Phydeaux's criticisms are valid, but it's not so they aren't. You want realistic gun fights watch a Micheal Mann movie or something but it doesn't make any sense to put down a film for something it wasn't even trying to do.
