Did the original Thief series (1, 2, 3) predict our current polarized political climate and it's pendulum dynamics of swinging from one side to the other then back again? Example power shifting from Pagans to Hammers to Mechanists to Keepers etc. with the City in the middle or as the pawn/stage? Discuss.

No. The political pendulum was swinging long before there were even personal computers, much less the Thief series.

You may be interpreting a bit too much into those games. :p What i think it does though is provide a statement about religion in general. Or catholicism, specifically.
