I just got to the Cairo Arcology... and I was walking around for a while and talking with people when I overheard a mother talking to her daughter about terrorism. I continued to walk around level 110 for a while when suddenly I had a chill down my spine -- The world trade center was 110 stories tall.
It's time to find out whether the symbolism was intentional... good job on the immersion factor Ion!

Yup, I noticed this right aways. This is probably an homage to the World Trade Center and its portrayal as being destroyed in a terrorist attack we all experienced on September 11, 2001.
One of the replacements for the WTC is the WTC2002 (
http://www.wtc2002.com) which is basically a city inside 5 sets of huge skyscrapers all bunched together.
cough.
Can you say ARCOLOGY? (and the WTC2002 even has a Pyramid on the top!)
The resemblance is striking.
